It is with love in our hearts that we announce the passing of Evelyn (nee Hamm) Gerbrandt on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Heritage Life Personal Care Home, Niverville, MB.
Left to survive are her two children, Dorothy and Jim (Deb), two grandchildren, Jayme (JP) and Dustin and three great-grandchildren Ariel, Kylie Anne, and Dustin Jr., as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Peter and Helen Hamm and five siblings along with Harvey and Len.
Mom was born in Steinbach, in 1932. She married Harvey Gerbrandt and they made their home in Niverville where they raised their two children. She went back to finish High School to become a teacher and taught for 20 years. After retirement she continued work. She did substitute teaching, home care, respite for foster children, and was involved in many church functions. She loved to garden, sew, bake and travel.
The family is grateful to the wonderful staff at the Heritage Life Personal Care Home for their care and compassion over the last ten years.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Word of Life Mission Church in Niverville, MB., with viewing one hour prior to the service. The burial will follow at the Hespeler Cemetery, Niverville, MB.
If friends so desire donations in memory of Evelyn may be made to either the Heritage Life Personal Care Home, Niverville, MB., or to Ethnos Canada Box 707 Durham, Ont. N0G 1R0.
