BRYAN ALBERT KRAMBLE

Born: February 5, 1939

Date of Passing: January 27, 2024

It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of Bryan Albert Kramble on January 27, 2024 at Actionmarguerite, his residence for the past year.

Bryan is survived by his loving wife Elaine, of 61 years; and his four children, Arlene (Kurtiss), Bradley (Tracy), Heather (Michael) and Blaine. He is also survived by his two brothers, Bill and Boyd (Val) Kramble; and his brother-in-law Bob Thomson. He will be missed beyond measure by his grandchildren, Kairstyn (Spencer), Adam (Claire), Michael (Jen), Kimberley (Kris), Elisabeth, Carolyn, Bryson, and Brockton; as well as his great-grandchildren, Wylder, Wyatt, Austin, Mason, Jack and Logan. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who meant the world to him including Jamie (Billy Sr.), April, Anwen, Billy (Maverick), Kim, Lori, Ken and Brent. He was predeceased by his two nephews, Dale and Darren.

Bryan was born in 1939 to his parents, William and Sylvia Kramble (Quinn) and raised in Transcona, Manitoba. His birthplace was an important lens into how he viewed himself and how he saw the world. He loved being from Transcona and often referred to it as “God’s country”. While in Transcona he was surrounded by numerous cousins, aunts and uncles from both the Kramble and Quinn sides of the family. His brothers and his cousins (Barry and Diane) were his lifelong friends, sharing many happy adventures together. His circle also included many friends, co-workers, their children, and grandchildren that became family.

Bryan was initially an electrician at CNR and was accepted into the Transcona Police Department in 1962. He married Elaine (Thomson) in 1962 and they raised their four children together, becoming part of the next generation of the Transcona community. As a police officer, Bryan rose through the ranks and retired in 1999 as the Deputy Chief of Police for the Winnipeg Police Service. He enjoyed his time in a variety of different policing units including Identification, Child Abuse, Youth, Traffic, Duty Office and Training.

Bryan was the first person in our family to go to university, achieving his Bachelor of Arts degree. This particular decision encouraged a love of lifelong learning and had a direct impact on his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bryan was always a kind, inquisitive and authentic gentleman. What you see is what he was. He was the knowledge keeper, family historian, go to guy, smoother of all rough edges and the solid foundation from which all of his children could rely on-without question.

Bryan and Elaine were snowbirds and spent a part of 30 winters in Arizona and Texas. They loved their snowbird life and having family and friends join them to be part of their adventure. They also travelled to Hawaii, Alaska and the Caribbean to celebrate family milestones. Bryan and Elaine also enjoyed their cottage at Lee River and the community of friends that surrounded them. Bryan was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle and leaves behind a legacy of warmth, attachment, wisdom and kindness. His genuinely caring manner echoed through generations of our family, and his guidance continues to be a beacon of strength. He will be profoundly missed by his family and friends but his spirit lives on in the cherished memories that we hold close to our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the staff on 4BC at Actionmarguerite, specifically nurse(s): Thelma, Brenda, Mai, Monique, Marilyn, Mary-Lou, Noreen, Tristan, Spiritual Care: Marcel and Social Worker: Stephanie and all of the HCA’s that did everything to comfort and care for our dad/Bryan and support our family through a painfully difficult journey with dementia.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life is planned for the summer of 2024.

Love you forever and always Dad/Bryan.

Bye for now.

  • My wife Carolyn and I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Bryan while he was with the Winnipeg Police Services and we were employed by the Province of Manitoba, Division of Driver and Vehicle Licensing and Manitoba Public Insurance. Bryan was very easy to get to know and was a fun person to be around. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed laughing and making everyone around him laugh. While Bryan took his role as a Police Officer seriously, he was not the kind of person that took himself too seriously. When Bryan and Elaine had their cottage at Lee River, we had the joy of calling them neighbors. As it turned out, the Kramble's lived two subdivisions over from our home in the "Black Bear" subdivision. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Elaine and the entire Kramble family. Rest well, Bryan. - Posted by: Don Halbert (Friend) on: Feb 05, 2024

  • Elaine, Arlene, Kurtiss & family, I am so very sad to hear of Bryan’s passing. I had the pleasure of being introduced to this wonderful man 27 years ago when he was serving on the Board of Directors of Winnipeg Police Credit Union. He was always so kind and caring to the staff, and always had time for a good visit with me. He will be missed terribly by everyone whose lives he touched. Please know that I am thinking of you all as you go along this difficult journey. Bryan, my friend, you will be missed. - Posted by: Reava Ash-Gauthier (Friend) on: Feb 04, 2024

  • My sincere condolences to the Kramble family. I have very fond memories of Brian. When I was a young professor at the University of Manitoba, the Winnipeg Police Service asked me to deliver cross cultural training to their recruits. Brian became my advisor and guide throughout my time with the WPS. He was a kind and experienced man leading to a friendship that helped me to become a successful Educator in a very difficult field. Rest at peace Brian. You fought the good fight. Neil. - Posted by: Dr. Neil McDonald (Friend) on: Feb 03, 2024
