Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHOMAS A. R. MILLER
We are sad to announce that on January 19, 2024, Dad passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully at his home.
Predeceased by the love of his life, Darlene (aka Terry) in 2021, he will be forever remembered by his children, Tammy (Craig), Tom (Tracey), Tim (Colleen); grandchildren, Jenny (Norm), Ryan (Krystal), Saxon (Mariel), Sienna (Tyson); great-grandchildren, Sutton, Sawyer, as well as bonus step-grand and great-grandchildren.
Co-founding the St. James Jr. Canucks of the MMJHL in 1978, he worked tirelessly as President of the team and despite “retiring” in 2015, he remained involved until his passing.
Dad was an avid golfer and had four holes-in-one to his credit. He was honoured as a Lifetime Member of Assiniboine Golf Club and was looking forward to the season. He received numerous awards for his community service, including induction into the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame in 2013 and receiving the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal in 2022.
Dad was wonderful, LOUD, passionate, and the most loyal person you would ever meet. His love for his family was his gift to us and we will cherish the memories forever.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rossbrook House, or to a charity of your choosing.
Celebration of Life will be on Thursday February 8, at 2:00 p.m. in Canad Inns Polo Park

I was the first female athletic trainer in the MMJHL with the Canucks in the early 80s. Mr. Miller always made me feel welcome and supported me throughout my various times on the team. I would pop into the arena for games years later when I was in town, and every time he would welcome me like a long lost family member. He was very vocal in his opinions and you always knew where you stood with him. He also had a heart of gold and a wicked sense of humour. My condolences to the family. He will live on in all our memories of him. - Posted by: Corina (Cori) Mark (St. James Canucks team member) on: Feb 15, 2024

Tom Miller was a hockey legend in St. James, and he was that heart and soul of the Canuck’s organization, I myself have nothing but praise for Tom he took care of his player’s and was very caring. The hockey Community in St. James has lost a legend. You will be missed. To the Miller family thanks for sharing your father. RIP Mr. Miller and thank you. - Posted by: Terry Koldon (Canuck) on: Feb 05, 2024

Tom was a passionate hockey advocate. I played one season for the Canucks before crossing the room to join the referees side. He was not pleased, but always had a kind word for the crew as we entered the rink. He had a gruff exterior, but it is a story my mother, Rita, would tell that revealed his softer side. Rita initiated ringette in St. James (Sturgeon Creek) and needed ice time to practice and promote the game. She approached Tom, who was the "keeper" of the rinks in St. James. He provided the teams with sufficient ice times to practice and was a contributor to grow it into the game it is today. While she never said he was easily swayed, he clearly had a vision that gave kids a chance to be active and have a meaningful place in their community. Whether with the Canucks, minor hockey or ringette, his heart was in the right place. - Posted by: Kevin Abrahams (Canuck and MMJHL referee) on: Feb 04, 2024

Tim, I was saddened to hear about the passing of your dad. I had the pleasure of golfing with you both sometimes on the weekends over the last 4 years. I enjoyed our rounds together and the Worthers. He will be missed at the golf course. - Posted by: Marlaine Marshall (Golf friend) on: Feb 04, 2024
