PATRICK JESSE DENTON

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Patrick Jesse Denton on February 5, 2024 at the age of 70.

Patrick was predeceased by his mother Marguerite in 2006 and his beloved wife Renette in 2015. He will be forever missed by his daughter Lindsay (Kai); son Jesse (Randi); grandsons, Tristan, Silas and Lennox; sisters, Marilyn, Donna and Bev.

Pat was born in Winnipeg on September 13, 1953 where he met the love of his life at 18 years old. He was a devoted husband and father who worked extremely hard to provide a great life for his family. He started working at CP Rail in 1977 as an Engineer. After retirement, he purchased a condo in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt to spend his winters. He loved to travel, snorkel, and fish. In the summers he would spend time at his Winnipeg Beach home with his family and dogs that he loved very much, driving his Harley and living life to the fullest.

Pat had an extraordinary gift of storytelling and sharing life experiences. The regular conversations checking in with family will be greatly missed. His family will cherish those memories forever.

Celebration of Life will be held in the summer.

  • I have ben missing Pat's Facebook posts the last couple of months and was putting off running a search here. I met Pat through the railway, first time meeting him was in the Brandon bunkhouse and he was holding court with the other hoggers and brakemen. He had such an easy time telling stories and his laugh was infectious. Couple months later he offered a room at his house and that began the "rip and tear" club. The neighbours were quite fed up with us ripping up and down Sydney St, in E.K. on our bikes. I actually learnt a lot about life from him over the years and he was my Best Man at my wedding in 1983. We drifted apart after this with our separate families until 2 years back when I finally found a phone number that would work at Winnipeg Beach. He was leaving for Egypt shortly after so we spent many hours catching up on some 40 years. I promised to visit him but never seemed to have the time. We talked regularly though, always nice to hear what he had going on and the relationships he had with his new friends. I will miss you pods, until we meet again. • I remember back in the mid 1970's Pat, Renette and myself (Just about every weekend) were at one social or another just having a blast of a time. Pat could talk a mile a minute and have story's that seemed (Out of this world at the time!). Pat was going to get a Harley so, he decided to sell his chopper and I jumped at the chance to buy it: https://www.screencast.com/t/bDaouEra3Gb Pat had a (Change of life-of sorts) when he got his Harley and was hanging around a whole different crowd (We'll leave it at that!) and that’s when we didn't hang out too much any longer and now to hear that Pat has passed it's too bad and at a young age as well. My Condolences to the rest of the Gunther family. And may Pat R.I.P - Posted by: William (Billy) Elliott (Friend) on: Feb 17, 2024
