HOWARD LAURANCE CHAMBERLAIN

1927 - 2024

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Howard Chamberlain announce his passing on Monday, February 19, 2024 at the age of 96. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Margaret; children, David (Julie) and Wendy (Ken) Loney; grandchildren Michael (Kaitlyn) Loney, Steven (Lori) Loney, Christopher (Andrea) Loney and Angel Chamberlain; three great-grandchildren, Clara, Sara and Wesley; and his sisters-in-law Phyllis Elder and Peggy Elder; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Howard was born in Manitou, MB, the youngest of six children, and raised in Brandon. He joined the Brandon Boys Pipe Band at an early age, playing drums with his older brother. Howard met Margaret and they were married in 1954. He followed a job to Regina, moving his young family there in 1960. Howard joined the 10th Field Regiment Pipe Band as well as the Roughrider Drum Corps. He later became a Shriner and joined the WA WA Shrine Pipes and Drums. Howard taught drumming to the Fraser Pipes and Drums as well as teaching and playing with the Regina Police Pipes and Drums. He made many lifelong friends along the way. After retirement, they spent several winters in Yuma, Arizona enjoying the sun and making new friends. Although dementia took its toll in his later years, Howard never lost his sense of humour. He was always quick to tease and eager tell a joke or two. Many games of crib were played with family and friends over the years with a rum and coke close at hand.

There will be no funeral service and interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Howard's name to the WA WA Shrine Travel Fund.
