ROBERT MALCOLM BRUCE (BOB) JOHNSTON

With sadness we announce the passing of Bob on February 17, 2024, at age 86 after a brief hospital stay.

Bob leaves Bev, his loving wife of 62 years, his daughter Liz Loewen (Tim), granddaughter Katheryn, grandson David and extended family.

Bob was born in Regina. As a career banker with Scotiabank, Bob had almost 40 years of experience working in four Canadian provinces. He retired as Area General Manager and Centre Manager of Edmonton Commercial Banking Centre.

Bob volunteered time, energy and expertise to Kiwanis, Rotary, Choralfest, and church committees. He sang in church choirs for over 70 years most recently at Westworth United. He enjoyed curling, bridge, and particularly golf - playing at both the Derrick Club in Edmonton and Breezy Bend in Headingley and courses around the world.

He enjoyed entertaining and hosting friends and travel, visiting over 30 countries. He was a great dancer and loved nothing more than a swing dance with Bev.

Bob made friends of strangers wherever he went - taking the time to learn (and remember!) people’s names and life stories. Our family was blessed with Bob’s unconditional love and support; he was quick to encourage our careers and activities.

The family has so much gratitude for his health care providers who supported him before and during this last week at Victoria Hospital and Health Sciences Centre.

Cremation has taken place and in keeping with Bob’s wishes, there will be no service.

Dance me to the end of love.
