ROSEMARY THERESA DEVINE
The family of Rosemary Devine are very sad to announce her death on February 25, 2024, at the age of 96.
She is survived by her loving family: daughters, Susan (Robb), Ginny (Gary) and son John (Rena), grandchildren, Sarah, Rachelle, Ryley, Dana, Emily, Kate, Shane, Chloe, Jack, Will, Evan, Kyle and Keira as well as many great-grandchildren. She will also be sorely missed by her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband Jim, and her sons, Matthew, Dan, Lorne, Jamie and Kevin. Rosemary was the last sibling of her family, having also been predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Patrick and Bob Convey and sister Rita Bullock.
Born in Winnipeg to Johanna and Robert Convey, she spent her early years in Crescentwood, attending St. Ignatius School and St. Mary’s Academy. In 1949, she married Jim Devine and they quickly began their family. Her life as a full time mother of eight children was joyful, full of excitement, and not a small amount of chaos. She eventually went back to work for a well-deserved break and very much enjoyed being employed outside the home. She also bravely learned to drive when she was in her 50s. She and Jim loved their cottage at Grand Beach and spent many happy summers and winter weekends there. Rosemary was a friendly, outgoing person who took great pleasure in meeting people and made many lasting friendships throughout her life.
Rosemary’s strong Catholic faith helped her bravely endure much loss in her life and her failing health in the last few years. She will be deeply missed.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 4 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation or Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Rosemary and Jim were close friends with my parents Bernice and Al Holst for decades. Rosemary and her family were like family to my mom and dad, myself and my two sisters and brother. Over the years growing up in Winnipeg I have countless wonderful memories of spending precious time with our adopted Devine family. After moving away from Winnipeg I was lucky enough to see Rosemary several times over the years. What a lovely, beautiful lady with a great sense of humour, and a heart full of love for all. Rosemary will be greatly missed. Sending love and hugs to Rosemary's family, Kathryn Holst - Posted by: Kathryn Holst (Friend) on: May 08, 2024

In my younger years I visited the Devine family home on numerous occasions. I was good friends with Lorne & Jamie and we spent many hours together shooting pool and listening to tunes! On every occasion Mrs. Devine made me feel like I was at home. Just a beautiful heartwarming lady that I was so lucky to have the pleasure of knowing. Unfortunately Lorne & Jamie moved out West in the early 80's & I lost touch with this wonderful woman. The reason I think so highly of this lady is the fact that she brought eight children into this world and did such a fantastic job of bringing them up. That to me is a testament of her will to be a mother who cared deeply for her family! I'll miss you Mrs. Devine and you'll forever be in my thoughts. Rest in peace you've made a lasting impression to every person that had the pleasure of meeting you. 🙏 - Posted by: Dave Smith (Family friend) on: May 04, 2024
