GERRY (SLAWKO) GAJDA
It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of our beloved husband, papa, uncle, and friend on Friday, March 8, 2024, at the age of 75 years.
Gerry was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Katarzina (nee Holowaty), his loving wife Betty James (2014) and his brother Edward Gajda (2020). After a two-year battle with lung cancer, Gerry leaves behind his children, Kimberley and Kevin Corneillie, granddaughter McKenna Perkins, his nephews, Jeremy (Lenore) and James (Kari), sister-in-law Judy and many loving friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Denis Caners, CancerCare, and the Riverview Health Centre - palliative care team, for their support and dedication to papa’s care during this difficult time.
According to Gerry’s wishes a service will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Home at 1800 Day Street, Winnipeg, MB.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to CancerCare or the Winnipeg Humane Society.

My deepest condolences to Gerry's family. I first met Gerry in the early 70's when I transferred to the CN Express. We worked together at the Express for close to 10 years. We then moved to Transcona Shops, Gerry in the Stores and I in the Car Shop. After moving to Customer Service I again ran into Gerry, he in one department and I in another where we both retired from. I also met Betty there as well. What a great couple they made. Gerry was a very conscientious employee. We had a good time working with Gerry. He was so easy to get along with and always had a smile. I also spent time with Gerry outside work. After hours at the local watering hole and curling with some of our fellow employees for the Express, including in a CN Bonspiel in Saskatoon. Great times! Last time I saw Gerry was at Betty's funeral. I wish I would have made it a point to keep in touch with him. Rest in peace Slawko!
