It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, Jean Zebrinski, on March 24, 2024, at age 96, with her loving family by her side.
Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband William Zebrinski; parents, Max and Mary Nestorowich; sisters, Annie, Nancy, Tessie, and Geneva; brothers, Steve, Peter and Bill; and son-in-law Jack McDougall.
Jean will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Ralph (Janice), Robert (Darlene), daughter Marilyn; grandchildren, Melanie (Daniel) and Nathan; and great-grandchildren, Michael and Tristen.
Mom was born in Innisfree, Alberta and raised on the family farm in Myrnam, Alberta.
Mom moved to Winnipeg in September 1948 where she married the love of her life, William, on September 11, 1948.
Mom was proud of her role as a homemaker. She enjoyed working in her vegetable garden and managed all the canning in the fall. She was a fabulous cook and made the best melt in your mouth perogies.
Mom and Dad enjoyed camping at Detroit Lakes and Rushing River and gathering for family picnics at Birds Hill Park. They also spent time together at their favourite fishing spot at Arnes dock on Lake Winnipeg.
Mom was a member of a bowling league and enjoyed playing shuffleboard at Transcona Seniors Centre. She was also a member of the Women’s Auxiliary, Royal Canadian Legion, Transcona Branch, where aside from auxiliary duties, she enjoyed a friendly game of crib.
The family would like to thank the staff of Middlechurch Personal Care Home for the exceptional care mom received during the last years of her life. Special thanks to the team of doctors, nurses and health care aides of Health Sciences Centre (Units H7 and GB2) for their compassionate care.
In accordance with Jean’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. Mom’s remains will be laid to rest beside her husband William.
Flowers are gratefully declined. If anyone so desires, a donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of one’s choice.

Marilyn and family - So sorry to hear of Baba's passing. She always made my day Marilyn when she called you and I got to speak with her in Ukrainian. We had a lot of good laughs especially when she had to correct my Ukrainian just like my Baba always had to. Rest in peace Baba. Losha - Posted by: Lois Bernstein (friend of Marilyn) on: Apr 13, 2024

I have fond memories of Mrs. Zebrinski, Mom of my good friend Marilyn, whom I have known since my teenage years. I remember going to the family home on Hoka Street in Transcona. Marilyn’s Mom was such a bubbly and warm person. She was funny and had a wonderful laugh. She was a joy to be around. My condolences to you, Marilyn, and to your family. Your Mom lives on in all of you. - Posted by: Nicole Rodgers (Friend ) on: Apr 03, 2024

I was Jean's next door neighbor for over 40 years. She was a very kind and caring person. I admired how she worked so hard to have a beautiful garden and generously shared her produce with others including me. Condolences to Ralph, Robert and Marilyn and their families.
