OSKAR LAYER
Peacefully, on April 1, 2024, Oskar Layer, at the age of 95 with his family by his side was called home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. A devoted and loving husband to Lydia for 69 years. Father to Rob (Annegret), Lil (Ron Kozussek) and Rick (Nancy).
Grandfather to Wes (wife Jenn, children Liam, Dawson, Emma); TJ (wife Janet, children Aster and Zoë); Brian (Amy); Andy and Heidi.
Predeceased by his father Fritz, mother Katherine, his sister Lili, and her son John Haidt.
He was born in the German village of Grossliebentahl, Russia (present day Ukraine) near Odessa on December 22, 1928.
Oskar’s Funeral will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 350 Gilmore Ave., Winnipeg on Wednesday April 10, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. A light lunch will follow. Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Glen Eden Cemetery, 4477 Main St.
If you wish, donations can be made to the Peace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund in memory of Oskar.
