It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at the age of 83.
Elizabeth was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland on March 31, 1940. She immigrated to Canada (Winnipeg) in 1967 along with her then family, husband John and daughters Shirley and Lynda. Both John (1972) and Shirley (1980) died accidentally. Tom met Liz in 1979 and things went well. They were wed on December 27, 1981 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Elizabeth was employed by a number of companies in Winnipeg such as Superlite, Bristol Aerospace and Holiday Inn (West).
On the home front she was very adept. She was a good cook, great housekeeper and mother to Jason. Her green thumb showcased itself around the house with flowers. Her success in growing a southern Magnolia tree is simply phenomenal. Who said you can't grow one in a Manitoba climate.
Elizabeth leaves to mourn numerous family members and friends. Husband Tom, son Jason, granddaughters Jennifer and Rachel, great-granddaughters Georgia and Stacy, great-grandsons Brandy and Dylan and dad Bill, Trevor and his family, Frank and Brenda and their families, Gord and Josie, grandson Andrew.
For friends, who can forget the Thursday night Scottish Ladies Bingo night gang at the Sturgeon C.C. on Rita Street. Betty, Sandra, Jacquie, Marie all together, on big BINGO for Liz.
The family would like to thank the paramedics and staff at the Grace Hospital for their care of Elizabeth in her final days.
A further thank you to doctors Weeratunga, Helewa and Stronger for their compassionate and professional care of Elizabeth.
Cremation has taken place and no formal funeral is planned.
