It is with deep sadness and great celebration of a beautiful life lived, that we share the passing of Karen Doreen Freed (Pay).
Karen will be dearly missed by her family and friends, those who received and shared her radiant presence, joy, laughter, wit and immeasurable love. Throughout her life she carried herself with grace and elegance. As a teacher, and later as a school psychologist in the St. Boniface School Division, she showed a genuine connection to the wellbeing of others. Her smile and laughter will be remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband and partner Marshall of 60 years, her children, Tyler, Bryn and Matthew and grandchildren, Kyla and Micah. Karen's love for her family and their love for her was and will always be a deep and endless well.
For those looking to honour Karen's beautiful life, donations can be made in her name to the Alzheimer Society of Canada and the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.

I'm late to seeing this, but I'm so sorry to hear of Karen's passing. I was one of the public school students Karen worked with over 25 years ago now, and I remember her with so much fondness and warmth. She was such a kind, comforting presence and her care for children always shone through. She really knew how to speak with and listen to young people so that they felt their thoughts and feelings were valid and heard--it was a true gift.
