ENRIQUE (RICK) BUENAVENTURA

December 19, 1962 - April 6, 2024

It is with profound sadness that the family of Rick Buenaventura announces his passage into eternal life on Saturday, April 6, 2024.

Rick was joyfully welcomed at the gates of heaven by his father Macairog “Mac” Buenaventura, his grandparents, Zacarias and Victoria Buenaventura, Caesar and Natividad Baello; and his aunts and uncles, Dante, “Leng-Leng”, Tony, Oscar, Minerva, Ligaya, Tessie, Charing, and Cora.

Rick is survived by his daughter Grayce-Lin; his mother Luz; siblings, Virgilio “Wes”, Noel, and Angel and her husband Sean Rickner; uncles, Gil, Rolly Del Rosario, Nides, “Choc-choc”, Recto, “Bonging”; aunts, Makiling “Mely”, Aida and her husband Ramon Aseneta, Perla Javate, Maria Del Rosario, Malou; cousins, Loreli, Maryanne, Michelle, Nicole, Dahlia; nieces, Raven and her husband Adrian Zacharias, Gabrielle, Macvhee; and nephew Haise and his girlfriend Hannah.

Rick will also be dearly missed by his colleagues at the Department of Families Manitoba Housing, his best friends, Mark Yeryk (and family Tracy and Coral), Karen Fudge, and Karen Rothwell, as well as relatives and friends in the Philippines and across Canada.

Born on December 19, 1962, and having immigrated to Canada on April 20, 1977, Rick was a devoted father to his daughter, Grayce-Lin, who was the center of his world. He brought laughter and joy to all who knew him. His vibrant spirit and infectious smile will be sorely missed by his mother Luz and beloved Grayce-Lin. An avid lover of the outdoors, Rick found peace and enjoyment in camping, fishing, and hunting. His adventures in nature were among his most cherished moments. Known for his joy, generosity, and appreciation for the simple pleasures of life, Rick touched the lives of many with his warmth and goodwill. He was also an excellent handyman, always ready to share his skills whenever and wherever needed.

The family extends their deepest appreciation to the staff of the Concordia Hospital Emergency Department for their kindness and compassionate care.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2024, at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 505 Brewster Street in Transcona, with Rev. Fr. Joshua Gundrum celebrant. A private family interment will take place at a later date at Green Acres Cemetery.
