PHYLLIS MARIE BLAHUT

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Phyllis Blahut, our beloved wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma. She overcame several health issues in her life but over the last few months her health deteriorated sharply, and she succumbed on April 27, 2024, at the age of 88.

Predeceased by her parents William and Katherine Williams (Reichert), brother Ron Williams and his wife Jean (Prince), Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 63 years, Walter, her children Val Marie (Andy), Myles (Linda) and Lesley (Jason), grandchildren Ryan (Delaney), Duncan (Breanna), Rhett (Brooke), Jodie (Jamil), Karlie (Cam), Tyler (Kaylee), Dylan, Connor, and great-grandson Harrison.

Born in Camp Morton, Manitoba, Phyllis spent most of her childhood in Rivercrest. She met Walter while working at Silverwood Dairies, they married in October 1960 and purchased a home in Windsor Park where they lived for 56 years. Phyllis dedicated her life to her family and home and was a devoted grandmother. She liked to knit, read, and most of all, play bingo. She loved sports, especially curling, and she and Walter travelled the world when he retired. A social butterfly, Phyllis will be remembered for her ever-present smile and infectious laugh.

A viewing reception will be held on Sunday, May 5 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at E.J. Coutu & Co, 680 Archibald St. and a Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, May 6 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Parish, luncheon to follow. Tributes may be left at ejcoutu.ca. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sandra Schmirler Foundation which funds equipment to support premature and critically ill babies.
