GERALDINE (DEAN) MACKAY

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Geraldine (Dean) Mackay. Dean passed peacefully at Souris hospital on April 13, with her partner Pat Lynch by her side.

Survived by daughter Pam Birch (Neepawa) and grandchildren: Robin, Kylie, and Dillon. Stepdaughter Laurie (Leo) Zorwich and sons Darcy and Maurie and stepdaughter Mylee Price, and sons Taylor and Tanner. Also survived by sisters Joan (Lee) Nostrud (Wetaskiwin, Alberta), Lillian of Moosomin, sister Barb (Robert) Goleski, Victoria BC, and brothers John Newton (Ruth), and Irwin (Darlene) both from Wetaskiwin, Alberta, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by sisters Doreen and Betty and brothers Raymond and Russell.

Dean loved her sports; she was known as a pretty good baseball pitcher and an avid curler, her team making it to provincial finals at least once. Dean also loved her dogs and horses. In her earlier years showing her short haired pointer “Sport” to a Canadian Kennel Club Championship and was well known by horse people who showed on the Manitoba Fair Circuit in the 70’s and early 80’s. Always a top competitor in Western classes and pretty much always in the money.

A straight shooter, a hard worker and a fun person always ready to provide a joke or a good laugh.

A memorial service for Dean will be held at her home in Alexander, MB on July 14 at 2:00 p.m. All her friends are invited to attend. Please call Pat at 204-752-2162 for more information.
