At her daughter’s home in Kleefeld, on Sunday, April 7, at age 87, Jeannette gently left us to be with the Lord she so loved, with our singing as she went. To Dr. Wade Glew and the loving staff in our home, in this four-year journey of significant decline, we are grateful. She is now living unencumbered, alive in the love of her Jesus! Biblical Studies was her passion, ministering for years in counselling, teaching, speaking, and writing. For 37 year she was loved and supported by her husband Ernie Henschel (predeceased).
Jeannette was born in Storethoaks, Saskatchewan, June 1, 1936, to John and Jean Smith, with brothers, Lorne and Bud, all predeceased, of BC. She is very dearly missed by her children, Jocelyne Schellenberg (Henry, predeceased); sons, Rick Gauthier (Kim), Paul Gauthier (Shelby); and her 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Fred Gauthier.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024, at 3:00 p.m., at New Beginnings Church, 1073 St. Mary’s Road, Winnipeg.
Donations may be made to Union Gospel Mission, The Salvation Army or a Food Bank/Shelter of your choice.

Dear Jocelyne, Just thought of your Mom tonight and decided to look up obituaries in Winnipeg. I see Jeannette only recently 'departed to be with Christ' and that she died in your care. My deep Condolences. Your Mom was a special, sweet friend, one I shall always cherish and remember. She was an overcomer. You have been the most devoted daughter an (infirm) mother could have.
