It is with a heavy heart I announce the passing of Tyrone at the age of 76 in Barbados on February 15, 2024.
Tyrone was born to Alphonso and Sybil Weekes on February 20, 1947, in Barbados. He moved to Brandon, Manitoba with his parents when he was 16 years old. He attended Vincent Massey High School, Brandon University (Bachelor of Arts Degree), and State University of New York (Master of Science in Education Degree).
Music was his passion thus he decided to entertain audiences instead of teaching. He sang and played his guitar for 45 years across Canada, USA, and the Caribbean. He recorded three record/CDs with the latest two songs he wrote in January 2023. His proudest music moment was when CBC radio played his last two songs and put them on their online playlist.
Tyrone was a kind and generous person who was ready to help anyone in need. He had a great sense of humour and loved telling jokes and stories of his adventures.
He married the love of his life Joan Keeler on May 4, 2012, even though their relationship began in 1979. They had no children.
He enjoyed playing pool, cribbage, ping pong, and tennis.
Tyrone lived in quite a few places such as Barbados, Aruba, Brandon, Winnipeg, New York, Calgary, Edmonton, Moose Jaw, Halifax, and most recently Airdrie, Alberta.
He was predeceased by his father Alphonso Weekes, sister Diana and her husband Lawrence Barkwell.
He is survived by his wife Joan, mother Sybil, brother Tony (Mary), sister Marcia, nephew David, niece Katrina and grandson James.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 3:00 p.m., Friday May 24, 2024, at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, located at 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., in Winnipeg, MB.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)
-
I remember Tyrone from Brandon in the mid-Sixties when he would ferry dictation tapes and transcripts, in the depth of winter, between his father's house on Ashgrove Boulevard and our house on Richmond Avenue where my mother served as an assistant to Alphonso - an experience that would lead her to becoming a full-fledged court reporter herself one day. I also remember one of Tyrone's first recordings joining my parents's record collection - a gift from him. I express my condolences to the Weekes family on their loss. - Posted by: James Selbie (Onetime Neighbour) on: May 27, 2024
