The Father Everyone Admired
It is with great sadness that the family of Colin Hodgson shares the news of his passing.
Colin was born on September 4, 1935, to Timothy and Margaret Hodgson (nee Mallinson) in Moor End in the Lake District of England. Colin grew up on the family farms milking cows, tending sheep and harvesting crops. In August 1952 Colin immigrated to Canada and in 1954 enlisted in the Canadian Air Force beginning a quick and successful ascent in his military career, graduating at the top of his class.
In 1958 Colin was assigned to the Air Navigation School in Winnipeg where he met the love of his life, Marianne Curlette. They married a year later in 1959 and were blessed with three children. Colin always espoused the value of education to his family. He was a fine example himself working after hours throughout his career to complete his GED, BSC from University of Manitoba (1967) and later his MBA (1993). When Marianne completed her MHA in 1985 and was offered a position in Regina, Colin retired from the military to support her.
In retirement Colin and Marianne built their dream home at Lake of the Woods in 1993 where they spent their summers and then acquired a villa in Ajijic, Mexico where they enjoyed the winter. The extended family and friends created many happy, lasting memories in both.
Colin was predeceased by his wife and lifelong true love, Marianne Hodgson (nee Curlette). He will be fondly remembered by his children, Tim (Linda), Mark (Donnarae), Sharon (Jim) and grandchildren Alexandra, Corryn, Meggie, Samantha, Russell and Colin. He also leaves his younger brother Brian Hodgson (Shirley) of Peterborough, his sister-in-law Barbara MacDougall (Don - deceased), sister-in-law Carolyne Scott (Jon) and their families.
With the Wattis family, children and family at his side Colin decided his time was up. Colin passed away on May 9, 2024. The family would like to thank the staff of the Urology ward on the 7th floor of the St. Boniface Hospital.
Colin's Celebration of Life will be held at the Western Canadian Aviation Museum in Winnipeg on Saturday, August 10 2024, at 5:30 p.m. Refreshments and a light meal will be served.

Our condolences to Colin's beloved family. He loved you very much and was always telling us about your achievements. We met Colin at Birds Of Paradise. He was an awesome guy, always so helpful, fun and intelligent. We enjoyed spending time with him.
