MARGARET ROSE CUMMING
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our sister, Margaret Rose, after a lengthy battle with dementia.
Mourning her loss are siblings William (wife Liz) of Morden, Barry (wife Irene) Morden, Lynda (husband Lyle) Edmonton, Gwenneth (husband Earl) Morden; three nephews; six nieces; numerous great-nephews and nieces.
Margaret was predeceased by her father James in 1972; her mother Annie in 1979; brothers, Bob and Doug in 2018.
Margaret graduated from Morden High School and attended Teacher’s College in Winnipeg where she earned her teacher’s certificate. She taught for just a few years before deciding to try nursing. She graduated from the Grace Hospital school of nursing and began her career at the St. Boniface Hospital. She worked general nursing and in the obstetrics department before eventually transitioning to their nursing instruction program.
For many years Margaret loved to play the piano and the organ. She also enjoyed travelling especially making the long trip to Australia to visit brother Doug. With her love of music, she subscribed to the Winnipeg Symphony and attended many performances. In her later years, she was an avid reader and made almost daily trips to the downtown library. As she was a social butterfly, she enjoyed talking to people and making new acquaintances everywhere she went.
Cremation has taken place. A Public Memorial and Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Hillside Cemetery, Morden, MB.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation.

I too was a student of Marg's in '85 at St. Boniface School of Nursing. Fond memories of our obstetrics rotation and her smile! My condolences to her family. ~ Nadine 🌹 - Posted by: Nadine Miller (Student) on: May 26, 2024

Margaret attended teachers college with my aunt and became a close friend of our family. I grew up calling her Auntie Margaret as she sometimes attended holiday celebrations and summer weekends with my extended family in Portage la Prairie. We wrote to each other when I moved to Toronto but evetually lost touch. She had a wonderful direct, no nonsense attitude and a boisterous laugh. I am so grateful to have known her. - Posted by: Pamela (Family friend) on: May 25, 2024

My sincere condolences to the Cumming family on the loss of Margaret. We had been friends for many years beginning with piano lessons taught by Betty Bond. She would often drive to Morden with me as I visited my family in Darlingford. We continued to see each other in Winnipeg. She would often drop by my place if she was anywhere near where I lived. I'm sorry she had to end her days having dementia. She enjoyed both her professions - teaching and nursing. God bless. - Posted by: Nan Christie (friend) on: May 25, 2024

I am a former nursing student of Marg. She was as kind & gentle with her students as she was with the babies she helped delivered. My condolences to her family. Bruce. - Posted by: Bruce (Student) on: May 25, 2024
