CHRISTA ELIZABETH BRUCE

A LIFE WELL LIVED

On May 3, 2024, Christa Elizabeth Hildegard Bruce, loving wife to Leo Bruce of 69 years, passed away peacefully in the City of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Christa was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

She is survived by her loving husband Leo, children, Michael (Alice) and Tom (Kathy), grandchildren, Chris (Kelly), Dave, Krista (Bryan), Jeff (Tiffany), Mike (Melissa), and her great-grandchildren, Colton, Carson, Lochlan, Rowan, Harlow and Nora. In Germany, she is survived by brother Klaus Schulze-Berge, brother-in-law Horst Passman, and their families. Christa was predeceased by her sister Hannelore and sister-in-law Karin.

Mom was a very loving, compassionate and generous soul. She met Leo at a dance while working for the Canadian Army in Soest, Germany. Mom was a very hard worker. In 1973 she started working at Cargill Grain in the typing pool and eventually became the President's Executive Assistant. After retiring, they travelled to many different countries while spending over 25 winters in Florida. They enjoyed the sun with Wendy and Jack. Wendy was her pen pal from England while both were high school students. The Lundar Beach cabin was also a place where we all spent numerous weekends.

She is sadly missed by her loving family, and forever remembered in our hearts. We are sincerely grateful to the many friends who have supported and comforted us during this time of loss.

Also, a huge thank you to her many doctors and caregivers during this time. In lieu of a Celebration of Life, please donate to CancerCare Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I live in London, England. It has been very many years since I saw Christa. She will never be forgotten, what a great lady she was. She was unflappable, always calm and tactful. I owe her a great deal, she was able to control all my relatively youthful excesses, and keep the show steadily on the road. Christa stood for no nonsense and I was the beneficiary. The whole office knew where they stood with her and in awe. Her retirement move to Florida meant her departure and my loss. Leo and the family have all my condolences.
