It is with sadness we announce that Bernard (Ben) Raymond Pelletier aged 94, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2024, after a short stay at Evergreen House in North Vancouver.
Ben is survived by his loving wife Evelyne, his three children, Paul (Linda), Diane (Bernie), Louise (Ken); his four grandchildren, Kevin (Jocelyn), Amanda (Greg), Matthew and Jack; his two great-grandsons, Miles and Angus.
Ben was predeceased by his son Michael and his two sisters, Lorraine Burgess (Peter) and Dolly Haglund (Gordon).
Ben was born to Marcien and Eva Pelletier in 1930 in St. Boniface, Manitoba. He attended Provencher School and worked as a lifeguard before serving in the Royal Canadian Navy. He then joined the Canadian National Railway, working as a telegrapher, and remained in St. Boniface where he met Evelyne, his wife of 70 years. In 1971, Ben moved his family to BC, settling in North Vancouver. He obtained employment with the BC Railway as a train dispatcher, working at various locations including North Vancouver and Roberts Bank, taking his retirement in 1990.
In retirement Ben enjoyed travels to many parts of the world with Evelyne, was an active member of the Silver Harbour Seniors' Centre's computer club and a member of their Harmonicats.
A private funeral service will be held for family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lions Gate Hospital.
