JASON DEGROOT

October 13, 1976 – May 27, 2024

Husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend – the love of our lives.
A man who meant so much, to so many, in so many ways – words cannot express.
So loved and cherished by all fortunate to know him – life will not be the same.
Impossible to sum the impact your existence has made in our lives – a life lived for those you loved.
The outpour of love and support so vast and far.
Thank you for the life you have shared with us.
The legacy you leave behind is immeasurable.
Please join us in

celebrating the life of Jason.

Condolences & Memories (15 entries)

  • To Jason’s family: I worked with Jason at Granny’s. His sense of humor and down to earth attitude was so appreciated. We laughed a lot. He spoke of you often at work. His pride and happiness with his family was evident always. My deepest condolences for your loss. - Posted by: Vanda (Former colleague ) on: Jun 06, 2024

  • We will miss you pretty-boy, I have worked with Jason for most of the past 25 years, he could always bring a smile to my face. Condolences to Kari & family. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Peter Meiklejohn (friend & co-worker) on: Jun 06, 2024

  • Jason and I grew up playing hockey together in Valley Gardens. When I switched to a new elementary school, he and another pal took me under their wings and became my crew. Our paths diverged in middle school, however, Jason always held a special place in my memory vault. I reflected on our friendship often and with great fondness. I was deeply saddened to hear about his passing, equally so that we never got a chance to reconnect as adults. I have lost enough "good people" in my life to know that that is the gold standard of a life well-lived, to be a good person. Tributes to Jason affirm what I already knew and amplify this loss. DeGroot, you will be sorely missed and fondly remembered. My condolences to his family and friends. - Brooksy - Posted by: Jeremy Brooks (Childhood friend) on: Jun 05, 2024

  • Kari - the news of your husband’s passing has brought such sadness. Even though I’ve never met Jason, the few stories you’ve shared of him, truly exemplify the strong bond you had. May the great memories you have, be cherished and help you get through this very difficult grieving period. - Posted by: Kim Bouwman (Friend) on: Jun 03, 2024

  • Our family is part of the legendary hockey family. Always a good lesson from Jason, Kyle always enjoyed the looks he would get when he was doing something he should be and shouldn’t be! Such a huge part of the boys lives those years, I hope he knows they took life lessons with them as they grew up from him. Kari and family our hearts break for you all, we are here for any of you at anytime and for anything, sending so much love. - Posted by: Shelley Bencharski (Friend) on: Jun 02, 2024
