In Loving Memory
We sadly announce the passing of our beloved Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. Bob was born at his family home in Binscarth and, to his family's surprise, arrived only 40 minutes after his twin brother Harold! He was the 10th of 11 children. He married Ruth Cooley on October 10, 1964. Bob’s life was a testament to love, laughter, gratitude, compassion, and friendship.
His daughter Cindy Roy (Tim) and son Dan (Jayde) are left to mourn his loss. He was a loving Grandpa to Ashley Franks (Kenne), Samantha (Jory), Quinn, Cole, Eden (Riley) and Shay (KC) and great-grandson Nolan. He was predeceased by his gracious wife Ruth (1999), his parents, Nick and Mary, and siblings, Dora Horeczy, Johnny, Alex (Jessie), Albert, Billy, Theo, Kay Melmoth (Bill), Ed and sister-in-law Rita (Harold). He is also survived by his brothers, Harold and Ken (Lorna) and in-laws, Frank (Dora), Eileen (Ed), and Bettie (Albert) along with many nieces and nephews.
Bob was a natural salesman, receiving numerous accolades and awards over the decades. He developed many lifelong friends through his work in the insurance and network marketing industries, always speaking fondly of his colleagues and sharing stories of his work-related trips.
Sports were a significant part of Bob's life, with baseball being his greatest passion. Bob was a catcher for many years before transitioning to coaching and managing the Binscarth Orioles. He led the team to multiple championships and was inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000.
Bob was a man of great faith and served as an usher at Springs Church for many years. He later joined The Source Church and quickly became involved serving wherever there was a need. His warm smile and firm handshake quickly put people at ease, and his bubbly personality and caring nature made every person feel welcome. Bob's love for people extended to the inner city, where he provided rides and errands for those in need, sharing the gospel and his love for Jesus through his works.
Bob embraced life and considered people and relationships the most important resources in this world. He lived everyday with purpose and had a special way of seeing the bright side of every situation. You are so greatly missed!
A Celebration of Life service will be held on July 8, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at The Source Church, 187 Kilbride Avenue, Winnipeg with coffee and dainties to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Kid Sport Manitoba or Athletes in Action. Interment to be held in Binscarth, MB at a later date.

I met Bob when he introduced me to Immunotec. Then again at LegalShield. I knew Bob as a honest man who never spoke a unkindly about anyone when I was with him. He really enjoyed helping people with whatever he could. He was a joy to meet up with him as he always shared a story. He even talked about when he worked in a restaurant and how important it was to butter the whole toast corner to corner. He always talked about how the dong currency was going to let us help many people if it ever became worth more. That's was an inside story that Bob and I shared. I will miss him but I know where he is if I ever want to say hello.... - Posted by: THOMAS CANCILLA (Friend) on: Jul 08, 2024

Bob was my first touch, or contact when I walked into the Source Church. His immediate warmth and kindness made you feel like you knew him for years. I wish I had as I'm learning more and more about him and his life's journey and I have no doubt, we would have become good friends and he a great Mentor to me and my Son. - Posted by: Steven S.
