Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHRISTOPHER HUGH WREN
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our husband, dad, and grandpa, Chris, at the age of 75, after a valiant battle with IPF.
Chris was born on April 1, 1949, in Timmins, Ontario to Christopher and Heula Wren. The Wren family settled in Winnipeg, and Chris spent his childhood and adolescent years in the community of Woodhaven. Chris graduated from Silver Heights Collegiate, later graduating from the University of Winnipeg. He went on to receive his CGA designation and worked many years as an accountant/controller. Chris and Lori met in St. James and were married on May 17, 1975. They eventually settled in the community of Charleswood where they raised their three children. Chris was an extremely active and involved father. Evenings and weekends were full of activities such as skating, swimming, sledding, trips to the park and zoo, camping, fishing, and sports. Chris coached all three of his children in various sports and volunteered countless hours to the local community clubs through his role as their coach. Our Dad was always ready to play, teach, love and support us through anything. Chris enjoyed his own hobbies, and was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, and loved to work on his boat. He enjoyed many years of golfing and fishing with his close friends whom he had met and kept since grade school. A special thank you to Jim McLachlan and David Kyle for their friendship to Dad over the years. The greatest joy for Chris came when he became a Grandpa to Kolby and Brody. Grandpa was so incredibly proud of both of them and loved them beyond measure. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for them.
Chris is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lori, his son Christopher (Cailee), daughter Lisa (Dan), daughter Michelle (Paul), and his dear grandchildren, Kolby and Brody Sparrow. Chris is also survived by his sister Kathleen (Dave Hill), brother Jamie (Alice), sister Sue (Rick Thurmeier), cousin Judy Wren, and his nieces and nephews. Chris was predeceased by his parents, Chris and Heula Wren, and first granddaughter Hayley Sparrow.
Our family would like to thank the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Service and Unicity Canadian Tire staff for their care and efforts, as well as the emergency room staff at the St. Boniface Hospital, particularly Dr. Ali and Dr. O’Leary for their care and compassion.
Dad, there are not enough words to properly thank you for all that you have done for us. You were the best Dad and Grandpa we could have ever asked for. We will miss you every single day and love you forever. We hope you’re somewhere that the fish are biting. TTFN.

To Lori and Family I first met Chris when I started working at Canadian Indemnity in 1978. It was clear we shared the same outdoor interests and we quickly became friends. We then proceeded to have untold adventures together. He became an ardent snowmobiler once we started adventuring off to faraway lakes during the ice fishing season. I'm not sure how often I heard "Are you sure this is a good idea?" Each adventure worked out with minimal issues and more memories were made. Our fishing times on the ice and water, golfing and hunting are treasured memories. He taught me a lot about fishing and was a presence in mine and my family's life for many many years as he joined us as "one of the family" on our annual fishing trip to many locations. He was a great friend and he is missed. - Posted by: Wayne Shotton (Friend) on: Jul 22, 2024

Chris was a wonderful person, soft spoken with an unassuming presence - always present and part of the conversation. I had the privilege of getting to know Chris through my partner Wayne. We have spent many hours fishing together. Chris was a skilled fisherman and always open to sharing tips and tricks. One summer fishing trip on Davidson we fished near a rock in the middle of the lake - a spot we would never have fished. Chris was catching and catching. I finally suggested he may want to go have a nap. We all laughed as he reeled in another beautiful Walleye! Since that day we call the hot spot "Wren's rock". So many great memories made out on the water and so many lesson learned from Chris. Anyone that has had the opportunity to know Chris knew the love for his family. My sincerest condolences to Lori and family. - Posted by: Tracey MacDonald (friend) on: Jul 03, 2024

I have such great memories of Chris from our school days at Silver Heights Collegiate. A night I will never forget is when we both went to the Black Night and met our future wives. Thinking of all the family at this sad time. - Posted by: Ray and Madeleine Loewen (Schoolmate) on: Jun 30, 2024
