Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAILI ELISA LEAN (NEE PAJUNEN)
On the morning of Saturday, June 15th, at Riverview Health Centre Mom passed away in her sleep just as she always wanted, 1 month short of 102 yrs.
Aili was predeceased by her husband Charles and son Richard "Sandy". Left to cherish her memory are her sons Jerrold (Sylvia), Arnold, and David; grandchildren Eric, France (Real), Hannah (Jon), Karen, Donna (Dan), and Jodie; great-grandchildren Jonathan, Magalie, Michael, Jamie and, Michel; sister Toini Hawthorn; nieces and nephews Shirley, Rita, Ken, Cindy, Arvo, Karen, Eileen, and Calvin.
Like her parents, Aili had a strong work ethic which she passed on to her children; being honest and generous was also part of her makeup. Aili took care of her bedridden father- in- law for some 3yrs, and later helped her parents for another 3yrs (as her dad was too sick to do much on the farm.) Our Dad was a construction worker and often away from home which left Mom with a farm and 4 boys to look after. When we 3 older ones left home for further schooling and work, my parents gave up the farm and bought a house with just one acre of land. David was now a teenager so Mom could expand her horizons, doing more community work as well as working at the Pineland Tree Nursery for about 20 yrs. Later in life our parents began attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall and studying the Bible with Jehovah's witnesses. They were active in the ministry and were both baptized on the same day, July 4, 1987. Another big moment for them was their 50th wedding anniversary. Two years later Dad succumbed to Alzheimer's disease.
During their retirement they were able to travel from one end of the country to the other visiting family and friends as their health permitted. A few years after Dad's passing Mom moved to Winnipeg to be closer to her sister and other family members and friends; it also made her ministry a bit easier.
Our Mom was a happy, positive person and a fine example of one who understood the meaning of Acts 20: 35. We look forward to welcoming our parents back in the resurrection on a paradise earth (Job 14:14, 15).

I remember both Aili and Charlie from when I was a kid. They played a large role in my parents 25th wedding anniversary. We set it up with them to call my parents over to “help” them with something which then took time to drive to Elma from our farm, stay for a bit and return home. While there, their friends all arrived to surprise them. As they drove home, they were secretly followed by Aili and Charlie to share in the celebration. Without their help, I don’t know how we would’ve pulled it off. That memory will remain with me always - it was them. They were always so wonderful. I will truly miss them. - Posted by: Vicki Henckel (Acquaintance ) on: Jul 25, 2024
