JOHN MEYER

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of John, on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at the age of 78 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Born in the Netherlands on April 14, 1946, John moved to Canada at the age of seven and became a Canadian citizen on February 22, 1963. John will be deeply missed by his best friend and wife of almost 55 years, Janet, his son Roy, his daughter Mandy, extended family, and countless friends and colleagues. John was preceded by his parents, Helen and John, stepfather Harm, and siblings, Helen, Nell, and Gerry.

John had a passion for cars and racing, especially Nascar; was an avid hockey fan; could fix or build just about anything; loved to garden and bake and took great pride in his property spending countless hours puttering around the yard. He was a kind and thoughtful man who had a tremendous sense of humour and was always there to offer a helping hand to anyone who needed it. What he enjoyed the most was spending quality time with family and friends with some good music and an adult beverage or two.

John will be deeply missed by his wife, children, family, and many friends - we love you Pops.

As per John's wishes, cremation has taken place, private arrangements have been made and no public service will be held.

Instead of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundations.
