Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTRUDY SNETSINGER
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Gertrude Anne Snetsinger on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg.
She joins her loving partner Kathleen (Kath) Moore, on their continued journey together.
Gertrude (Trudy) was the first of eight children born to Harold and Laura Snetsinger. Trudy leaves to cherish her memory, her sisters: Marian (John) of Florida, Maureen (Ken) of Long Sault, Kathleen (Alastair) of Kingston, and Laura (Randy) of Ottawa, and her brothers: Matthew of Courtenay, Kevin of Cornwall, and Michael (Rosanne) of Ingleside.
She will be missed by her nieces and nephews: Andrea, JJ, Tracy, Sarah, Chelsie and Matthew, as well as her grandnephew Connor and a surviving uncle, John, as well as numerous cousins.
Trudy will also be greatly missed by Kath’s family in Winnipeg, especially Laura and Carol Ann.
Trudy was predeceased by her father and mother, her grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.
Trudy was an intelligent, articulate and well respected person, who held a Bachelor of Theology and a Master of Divinity, who taught at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX and was a keynote speaker at the Continental Assemblies of Marianist Lay Communities there and was Director of Christian Ministries at St. Paul’s College (at the University of Manitoba) in Winnipeg for a time, and was a sessional lecturer in women’s studies at the University of Winnipeg. She then re-trained to become a Database Administrator for IT support to the Manitoba Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation and subsequently to one of its vendors before she retired.
Trudy and Kath, spent many happy years taking care of their home and gardens and many treasured pets. They loved spending time with friends and Kath's family. For a time, they belonged to the Parrot Club, often going out to places such as Oak Hammock Marsh to educate the public.
Trudy was a passionate defender of women’s rights and freedoms, extremely protective of her friends and loved ones (including her furry, feathered or fishy friends), and had no time or patience for those that would belittle or mistreat any of them. She was a fierce advocate when necessary. She also had an intellectually fueled, dry wit that never failed to tug at the corners of your mouth, and a dimply grin and a subtle twinkle to her eyes that revealed her impish sense of humour.
Trudy was a cherished older sister to all of her younger siblings, and an inspiration to many.
The family would like to thank the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for their kind and compassionate care of Trudy, and to Kath’s siblings in Winnipeg for their support and unwavering commitment to Trudy. We are forever in your debt.
A private Interment will take place at Glen Lawn Cemetery.
