Robert Denis Joseph Fontaine, born December 7, 1955, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024, at Abbotsford Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Robert, known to many as Bob, was raised in St. Malo, Manitoba. He worked for VIA Rail for over 25 years, a career that brought him to Western Canada. His commitment and hard work were evident in his career, where he made lasting contributions and formed enduring friendships. Outside of his professional life, Bob found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a profound love for his dogs (Penny and Daisy), spent countless hours fishing, took great pride in his garden, and was a proud Montreal Canadiens fan.
He is survived by his beloved daughters, Michelle Fontaine (Troy Keen) and Monique Fontaine (Clint Craig). Bob was also a proud grandfather to Tasha Fontaine, Braiden Fontaine, Austin Jensen, and Kaitlyn Bain, and great-grandfather to Weston and Sterling Jones, who will forever hold dear the memories they created together.
Bob's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. His life was a testament to the importance of hard work, love for nature, and the joy found in family.

My heart goes out to you Monique and Michelle and your families. I know that your Dad was a good man and loved his family. I have known your family for many years (even before you were born). Hugs and prayers to you all. - Posted by: Patricia St. Godard - Vouriot (family friend) on: Jul 27, 2024

Hard to find words for such a loss to us all. You were always the first call from us when we needed advice. No family dinner, Saturday morning coffee or home project will be the same without you. I will proudly cheer for your Montreal Canadians now and wear your jersey proud. I hope you know how loved you were by us, your grand children and your friends. You will live on in all that you installed into us all. Love you Dad, until we see each other again. - Posted by: Monique Fontaine (Daughter ) on: Jul 27, 2024

We love and miss you dad. I had a dream about you last night. You had returned and had called me to ask why your internet and TV weren't working. 🤣 We know you are in a good place and are pain free. No doubt, you probably found a good casino and have a nice garden growing some nice cukes and juicy tomatoes. Rest well dad. I will see you again one day. - Posted by: Michelle Fontaine (Daughter) on: Jul 27, 2024
