Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHOMAS ANDREW LOGIE
Suddenly, on Saturday August 3, at 65 years of age, Tom Logie passed away at St. Boniface Hospital with Barb and his brother Jim present.
Tom was predeceased by both parents, Grenfall (1990) and Florence (2013) and brother Alex (2017).
Tom was born in Winnipeg on October 24, 1958 and raised in St. Vital. At an early age he had a fascination with both cars and music. After attending Glenlawn Collegiate, he started work at Park Pontiac and worked his way from the car wash rack, through being a customer service writer, to finishing with completing job orders and warrantee work.
Tom retired soon after the dealership closed its doors. A few years later Tom suffered a major health crisis that left him in a coma for several days before regaining consciousness. This near-death experience changed his outlook on life as he became more focused on what really mattered (people) along with those things he wanted to do. This positive focus remained with Tom for the rest of his life.
In 2017, he met Barb, and although neither one knew it at the time they were to become inseparable partners for the rest of Tom’s life. They collaborated on numerous household and yard projects in which Tom showed his remarkable skills at building useful items out of wood. He also tackled household maintenance issues and knew when to bring in the professionals. His knowledge of cars remained to the end and he could point out problems when asked to do so.
Tom was very outgoing and had many friends that he kept in touch with. He will be missed by family and friends at his sudden passing. The love between Tom and Barb was strong and true and will be forevermore.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all the staff at Concordia and St. Boniface Hospitals for their considerable compassion and professionalism at this stressful time.
At Tom’s request, cremation will follow a viewing at Glen Lawn Funeral Home 455 Lagimodiere Blvd on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 11 a.m. to noon. There will be no service. A private interment will be held at a later date.
If anyone should desire, in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to one of: Concordia Hospital, St. Boniface Hospital or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
Family and friends may sign a book of condolence at www.glenlawn.ca.
