HENRY (HANK) HUBER

September 17, 1940 - August 1, 2024

After a short but courageous battle with cancer, Hank Huber passed away peacefully.

He is survived by his sons, Ed (Karen) and Clint (Dana), grandson, Brady and sister, Else (Reg). He was predeceased by his wife, Carol, parents, Heinrich and Elizabeth and brother, Rudy.

Hank was born in a German settlement in Poland and came to Canada in 1948 with his brother and sister and lived with his aunts, uncles and cousins.

Hank worked for CN Rail as a signal maintainer until he retired in 2001. Hank and Carol married in 1964 and settled in Atikokan, ON. They enjoyed dances, fishing, camping and travel. Hank loved collecting stamps, playing darts at the Legion, and projects around the house. He treasured time reminiscing with his cousin, Herma and was very excited upon the arrival of his grandson, Brady.

On August 13, the family invites all to an interment at 10:45 am at Holy Ghost Cemetery (4387 Main) and a celebration of life at Glen Lawn Funeral Home at 2:00 pm (455 Lagimodiere).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I have many happy memories of working with Hank. He was always a pleasure to converse with as his many stories were entertaining and informative; especially his early days on the railroad and life in Atikokan. Hank was a valuable mentor to us younger signalman. He happily shared his knowledge and expertise. Gone but not forgotten. - Posted by: Don Kamula (Work colleague) on: Aug 16, 2024

  • My condolences to Edwin and Clinton and their families. Hank always was a special friend although we haven’t been in touch for a few years. Carol and Hank always will have a special place in my heart. - Posted by: George Skrumeda (Friend) on: Aug 10, 2024
