CLAIRE (CHIC) HORSLEY
Claire Horsley, (nee Macdonell) died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 87; knowing she was loved and well cared for.
Daughter of Hortense and Beau; sibling to Glen Rose, Angus, Joey and Ellie. Wife of Stephen, Mother of Allison (Brad Porter), Andrea (Peter Murray), and Stewart (Ulrika Englund). Grandmother to Jake and Alix, Haleigh and Zach, Astrid and Beatrix. Great-grandmother to Tayla and Kacie.
With a degree from U of Manitoba, Claire became one of the premiere Food Stylists of TV commercials and stills in Toronto. An amazing cook, she loved to travel and spent her vacations exploring and relaxing with family and good friends. She enjoyed gardening and took great pride in her home that was always open to family and friends. She had a wonderful sense of humour that stayed with her ‘til the end. Let perpetual light shine upon her.

To dear Ellie and Joey, and to Chic’s three kids, I send my deepest sympathy. I was so very sad to read Chic’s obit - we were such good friends for so many years. I have tried in vain to find a more personal way to write to you, Ellie and Joey - this venue isn’t my choice but I have no option now. All of you Macdonells were such great pals of mine and of my family - I didn’t know Glennie well (she was older than we were) but you girls, Chic, and Angus, and all of my sibs - we were all like family. And just a couple of days ago I was telling Kelly (my third daughter) that it was ‘Toots’ who introduced me to Blueberry pie! And are you aware that Beau, your dear Dad, proposed the Toast to the Bride at my wedding? 152 Canora Street (I think that’s the correct address) indeed, was a ‘home away from home’ for this old gal. Ladies, we are the survivors - how I wish that we could have a visit, ‘for old time’s sake’. Unfortunately, that’s not in the cards for us, but it’s a happy thought. I notice that Chic’s obit didn’t state the date that she died. Please don’t tell me that she died on the 14th. Prayers, Hugs and Love to all of you, Judy 😘 - Posted by: Judy Burrows (Friend for over 70 years) on: Aug 29, 2024
