JOSEPH JURAS
Dad passed away at Beacon Hill Lodge shortly after his 99th birthday.
He was born in the Ukraine and came to Canada in his early twenties after the Second World War. He made a life in Winnipeg where he met his wife Irene (who passed in 2010). They had four children, three still living.
Dad worked hard and instilled a strong work ethic in his children, modeled resilience and had a good sense of humour. Dad lived independently until 90 when he moved to an assisted living facility and then this last year in a personal care home.
Family would like to thank the numerous care workers and medical staff whose efforts helped maintain a quality of life over dad’s final years.

Joe and Irene were my dog's "dog parents". I never passed them walking in the park or by their home without being given a home-made treat for my little dogs, Sammi and Baxter. When Joe's daughter moved home from Australia he made sure we met. Sadly for only a short time. A stone painted by one of the grandchildren is still in the front yard and each of the subsequent homeowners are dog lovers. To Joe's family I would like to say thank you for sharing him with me and that I am am sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Patti (neighbour) on: Aug 17, 2024
