EDWARD (ED) HERBERT BOULAY

October 1, 1946 - August 25, 2024

Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, Ed left his "human space suit" and is off on his next adventure.

He was predeceased by his father, Richard, and his mother, Helene. He is survived by his sister Pam (Gary), his brother Doug (Carol), his children, Kelly (Scott) and Ember; his grandchildren, Adam and Violet; as well as many nieces and nephews and long-time friends.

Ed was a quiet Giant of a man, nicknamed "Big Ed" by loved ones. He would go out of his way to help others without any thought of being repaid for his kindness. He lived a full and wonderful life surrounded by good friends and family. He met with friends roughly once a month at "Sals" for breakfast to stay close and catch up with how they were doing.

Ed never complained. He was a great listener, his kind eyes inviting everyone to feel at ease and never judged in his presence. Ed was a huge supporter of his grandchildren and their sports; he spent countless hours driving them around and cheering them on at soccer fields, hockey rinks and gymnastics gyms.

Ed will be remembered in our hearts and sorely missed by those who love him.

Special thanks to all who helped care for him and the exceptionally loving staff at Riverview Health Centre, 3rd floor, east wing. Thank you!

At Ed's request cremation has taken place. A celebration of Ed's life will take place Monday, September 16 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Winnipeg Winter Club in the Riverview room.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or to The David Suzuki Foundation.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • My condolences to the family. Every now and then your family crosses my mind, from time spent in Mountain Ave. I do remember a fort Ed and Doug built in your back yard and I hid in there. And the parties my sister would have and I would sit and watch the dance. - Posted by: Bonnie Kirsch Harrison ( Neighbour) on: Sep 10, 2024

  • Ed was such a great person. He was always friendly, positive and helpful at work (especially to those of us who needed help with technology). I can’t picture him without a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. My condolences to Ed’s family. I know he will be missed. - Posted by: Pam Peden (Former colleague and friend) on: Aug 29, 2024

  • As lifetime friends Ed will be greatly missed. So many great times have been shared over the many decades. Forever in our thoughts with happy memories. Penny & Brian. - Posted by: Penny & Brian (Friends) on: Aug 29, 2024

  • RIP my friend it was truly a pleasure knowing you. Your sense of humor was contagious when I was around you. Too many good things to say about you that can't be covered here. Condolences to the family from Helen and I. - Posted by: Bob Macaulay (Good friends) on: Aug 29, 2024

  • Ed and l worked together at Robertson School. He kept our computer lab running smoothly. But Ed did more than that. He made friends with everyone he knew. His kindness and sincerity as a person knew no bounds. If you wanted to talk about something, Ed would listen. That was his greatest strength. And Ed came to my home many, many times to fix any computer problems l had. My last meeting with him was at my dear friend Nancy’s celebration of life when he told me his cancer had progressed. I held his hand and felt huge sadness. Ed will be remembered for his strength, kindness and generosity. My years knowing Ed were good years. He won’t be forgotten. Sending condolences to his family who he cherished and spoke of often. - Posted by: Cynthia ( Cindy) Parker (Friend. , colleague ) on: Aug 29, 2024
