Fred Morton Olive entered this world on May 15, 1935, in Saint John, New Brunswick. After the passing of his wife of 60 years, Sue (Mom) on September 11, 2019, Dad put his best foot forward and managed to make the best of life without Mom until his passing Sunday morning, September 15, 2024. We are grateful to God that Dad did not suffer and was always on the go, either by walker or scooter right to the end.
Dad joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1955 as a Physical Recreation Instructor and in 1959 met the love of his life and fellow RCAF member, Sue, at Canadian Forces Station, Falconbridge, ON. Soon, their family expanded with the birth of their two sons, David, and Kevin. The family moved across the country, stationed from Montreal to the prairies and finally Dad’s last posting was to CFB Shilo in 1980. Family life revolved around sports and camping, and it was a wonderful life. Dad was always on the go with either teaching sports, like cross-country-skiing, or lifeguarding and refereeing.
Both Mom and Dad grew up in broken homes filled with heartache. Heroically and with great empathy and compassion, they changed the course of their past by raising their own family and building a new foundation of love and happiness for their children and grandchildren. By 1980, they both had life-giving spiritual changes as they embraced the love and grace of Jesus Christ.
After retirement from the military, Dad worked for Manitoba Housing. He enjoyed belonging to the local Camera Club as well as hiking with the Wilderness Club. Dad loved being a part of the Singing Christmas Tree at Calvary Temple, doing Hospital ministry as well as running the Men’s Prayer Breakfast. In the past few years, he and Mom attended Bethel Church where they enjoyed the fellowship.
Fred is survived in this world by his two sons, David (Ruby) Olive and Kevin (Lisa) Olive; along with his grandchildren, Kyle (Lomis), Bryan (Christine) and David, Jr, Michael (Abby), Matthew and Sarah (Josh) Wiens.
A family memorial service will be held in the spring.

So sorry to hear of Fred’s passing. Both Fred and Sue were great mentors for Doug and I and we think of them often when we are seeking wisdom and direction. Many a time I have been settled onto the “hot seat” at bible study and prayed over. Fred will now be meeting and greeting old friends and making news ones with his best friend, Jesus! 💓Carry those special memories with you and know that it is well with Mom and Dad’s souls. - Posted by: Mary Jane Lawrence (Friend) on: Sep 21, 2024
