JAMES JOSEPH KUBAS
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of James Joseph Kubas, a loving husband, father, brother, and friend, who left this world on August 28, 2024.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Diane; his children, Jennifer (Jon) and Mark; his grandchildren, Ben and Emily; his brothers, Len and Bill, nephew Chris; sister-in-law, Pam and family; and many friends who will miss him.
Jim earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Manitoba in 1966 and his Master of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1969. Jim began his career in Research and Planning in Toronto, moving to Ecuador, then Manitoba. His early fascination with computers in the early 1980s led him to a career change of computer programming with Manitoba Family Services.
As an avid traveller, Jim spent a lifetime exploring every continent, making friends across the globe, creating unforgettable memories. He loved capturing his travels with Diane through his photos and sharing these photos with his signature slideshows.
In his early retirement, Jim spent countless hours renovating the family cottage, a labour of love and a testament to his creativity and skill. He cherished his time at the cottage with friends and family.
Jim was a multi-talented individual with diverse interests, including, travel, photography, carpentry, computers, horticulture, arts, music, and theatre.

Terry and I would like to express our deep sadness at the loss of Jim and our condolences to Diane and the Kubas family. He was a kind and gentle man, always ready for a conversation. As long time neighbors at the lake we will miss his hearty “Hello Brisleys”, especially in the spring when our cabins are opened up in anticipation of a long summer ahead. Jim left his legacy at the lake with his talent of carpentry and creativity. His methodical thinking and patience had beautiful results in their cabin, decks and dock. We’ll miss Jim’s busyness next door. May your spirit fly free over the place that you loved. Always, The Brisleys - Posted by: Carol & Terry (Neighbors at the lake) on: Sep 21, 2024

Hi there Jim….. we talked about getting the cousins together for lunch again after your cruise. This is not the gathering I thought would happen. I’m going to miss our conversations and your hearty laugh. May you continue your love of travel among the stars where yours will shine brightly. Miss you already…..love Vicki - Posted by: Vicki Yankoski (Cousin) on: Sep 21, 2024
