DORIS LILLIAN GOSSKIE

(TUCKER)

On Saturday, September 21, 2024, Doris Lillian Gosskie (nee Tucker) passed away peacefully at the age of 93 with her daughter, Janet, by her side.

Doris is survived by her son David (Nicole) Gosskie of Dauphin and Janet (James) Lund of Winnipeg; three granddaughters, Jenna (Willie) Kenler, Josey and Charlee Lund; and three great-grandchildren, Grace, Beau and Colton Kenler. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Catherine Tucker and Diane Tucker. Doris was predeceased by her husband, Joe, and her five siblings, Gladys, Austin, Philip, Margaret (her twin) and Winston.

Doris was raised in Winnipeg, in Riverview, and was there until she wed Joe Gosskie in 1960, and they made their home in Dauphin. Doris created a wonderful home for her family and she made lifelong friendships with her neighbours, who became known as the "7th Avenue group". Doris also worked at the Dauphin Inn Motel and the Dauphin Co-op, expanding her friend group beyond 7th Avenue. She was very creative and artistic. Her talents included painting, needlework and gardening. Many friends and family were the recipients of her needlework and, living on a corner lot, many passersby were able to enjoy her beautiful flower garden.

Doris (Dodie, Dode) will be remembered as a generous, fun loving and caring person to all those that had the privilege of knowing her.

The Family would like to thank the staff at Meadowood Manor in Winnipeg for taking such great care of Doris for the last six years.

A private family service is planned.

  • So very sorry Janet to hear of the passing of your mom. You did my hair for many years and I remember trading stories of our moms. May she rest in peace….💕 thinking of you at this difficult time. - Posted by: Gayle Vokey (Friend) on: Sep 30, 2024

  • We had the pleasure of living across the street from the Gosskie family, on 7th Ave., during our childhood. Doris had such a great sense of humour and our memories of her will be cherished. Our hearts and thoughts are with all who miss her. ❣️ - Posted by: Mary Marzyk (Stokotelny) (Neighbor ) on: Sep 29, 2024

  • Blessings and deepest sympathy to Doris’s family. I had the privilege of being her close neighbor and part of the “7th Ave. Group”. Doris’s yard and full backyard of flowers left many in awe! A lovely lady, a cherished neighbor. We missed her so much when she made the transition from her home. May she peacefully rest! She was loved and will be remembered by many! ♥️ - Posted by: Betty (Former neighbor/Friend) on: Sep 28, 2024
