Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBRIAN MURRAY GRIFFIN
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brian Murray Griffin, on September 27, 2024, at the age of 72.
Brian was predeceased by his mother Eileen, father Jim, mother-in-law Dorothy, brother-in-law Arnold, and son Trevor.
Brian is remembered by his wife Lynda of 53 years, brother Les (Maureen), sister-in-law Roberta, nieces, Arlene (Shane), Ashlee (Said), Lindsey (Brody), nephew Rick, along with numerous other family members and friends that have become family.
Brian was born on June 2, 1952, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to Eileen and Jim Griffin. He grew up in East Kildonan playing hockey and baseball at Melrose Community Centre, later playing baseball for the Teekay Slowpitch league in Transcona. Brian graduated from Miles Macdonell Collegiate, and started working at Matthews Mechanical. From there, he obtained a power engineering certificate from Red River, and went on to pursue a career at Fort Garry Industries where he retired from in 2007.
Brian’s heart belonged at the lake, Ingolf, Ontario where he met his wife Lynda while he was working a summer job during his teenage years. Brian and Lynda lived a life together full of adventure. This included receiving their Master Dive certificates and travelling to exotic destinations on numerous dive excursions, and in winters travelling by snowmobile to various locations in Manitoba, Ontario, and the United States. Brian and Lynda retired to the lake in 2007, where Brian was an active member of the community, volunteering as an assistant to the chief for the Ingolf Fire Department, Ingolf Hall maintenance crew, 39ers social group, and the cook shack team at the annual Ingolf Regatta.
Brian will be most remembered for his kind heart, willingness to help others, and good-natured sense of humour.
A celebration of Brian’s Life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 19, 2024, Glen Lawn Funeral Home. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
Lynda and family would like to extend a special thanks to Dean and Darlene, Al and Barb, Phil and Wendy, Dave and Lise, Tracey, Kim, Giselle, and others in the Ingolf community for their friendship and support during these last few months. Also, Dr. Cho, Dr. Faghih of Thunder Bay Cancer Care, the doctors and nursing staff at St. Boniface Hospital (E6), and the nursing staff at Cancer Care Kenora Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that a donation be made to the Ingolf Fire Department, The Kenora Cat Shelter (725 Railway Street, Kenora, Ontario), or charity of choice in Brian’s honour.

We echo the sentiments of those who have posted before us. Brian was always there when one needed a helping hand. We will miss him, and you Lynda at Ingolf. You are indeed a strong person and we hope that the good memories from all of your adventures and the long life you two have shared will continue to soothe the pain during this difficult time. We will miss our friend and neighbor. Brian was always available to help without having to ask. If he saw something needed to be done he was already on it. If the chalkboard sign needed a coat of paint, if a neighbors boat needed to be tied up, or covered, both Brian and Lynda were there. We are going to miss the lights on and beautiful seasonal decorations up as we pass by. I know he was suffering and is at peace now, Lynda you are a strong lady, we admire you and hope you know how much we will miss you at Ingolf. - Posted by: Barb and Al Tyrchniewicz (Friends and neighbors ) on: Oct 15, 2024

Community meant everything to Brian. He was the consummate volunteer, loved a good laugh and a chin wag with friends and would partake in everything that makes up lake life. Lynda was never too far from his side. I will miss those coffee dates, the giggles Brian would belt out over something funny, and seeing Brian and Lynda together. I will forever cherish his friendship. He was a good man, loved by many. - Posted by: Giselle (Friend) on: Oct 05, 2024
