ELIZABETH ARNOLD

With great sadness we announce the passing of Elizabeth Marie Arnold (née Lisecki), of St. Andrews, Manitoba. Surrounded by loved ones, she passed into the arms of her Lord and Saviour on September 26, after a brief battle with cancer.

Liz was born on September 30, 1948, to Anton and Mary in Winnipeg. After graduating from St. John's High School, she went on to receive degrees in Home Economics and Education from the University of Manitoba.

It was while teaching in 1976, she met the love of her life John Arnold, and they wed in 1978. They built their home in St. Andrews, and two children followed. Liz found a new passion for landscaping and gardening. She particularly loved tending to her pots of pink geraniums, and her large vegetable garden. She was especially happy later when her granddaughters would help plant and harvest.

She worked in the St. James School Division for 33 years, primarily as a resource teacher. After retiring in 2003, Liz and John enjoyed many Caribbean cruises with a wonderful 'cruise crew'. Her final European river cruise was also a highlight.

Liz was predeceased by her parents Anton Lisecki and Mary (née Erhardt). She is survived by her husband John, her children Kathryn and Ryan (Leanne), her three treasured granddaughters Ivy, Bonnie, and Ruthie, her brother Ronald (Linda), as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Liz and her family have attended Springs Church for 30 years, where she experienced a renewal of her faith, and found a deeper love for her Eternal Heavenly Father. We cannot thank Springs Church enough for their support through Liz's illness, but even more so for the life inspiring teachings and the 'Love Accept Forgive' focused church culture she embraced before. A special thank-you to Pastors Earnest and Trevor, who visited Liz and family in hospital.

We'd like to say another thank you to the staff at Health Sciences Centre, and especially at Selkirk Regional Health Centre. We could not have asked for more care and dedication during Liz's stay.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:

Springs Church's Build the Future fund springschurch.com/buildthefuture. Liz was passionate about the school expansion, both as a retired teacher who approved of the Jesus-focused education offered there, as well as a grandmother whose granddaughters currently attend Springs Elementary.

Cremation has taken place, and a private family celebration will be planned in the future, when flowers are again in full bloom. This is not a goodbye to Liz; it is just a 'see you soon'!

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Deuteronomy 31:8

  • Dear John, Kathryn, Ryan and family, I'm so sorry to learn of your loss. I always appreciated and enjoyed Liz as a fellow resource teacher. As a 'newbie', I learned from her experience and her guidance during resource teacher meetings. Through my work with you, John, at Strathmillan, I enjoyed listening to family stories, starring Liz, Kathryn and Ryan, with your St. Andrews home as the setting. I'm so glad to read that you and Liz have enjoyed some adventures since retirement. I'm not surprised to read about Liz's adoration of your grandchildren. I hope you all find a way to think of the many happy memories you share, during this time of grief. Thinking of you. Barb - Posted by: Barb Melnychuk (Lucier) (Friend/Colleague) on: Oct 16, 2024

  • God could see that Heaven was getting disorganized so he looked down and called Liz To John and family there are not words the Sobering Family can say that would truly convey our feeling of your loss. We met Liz as part of the Grey Patrol. Driving the highways of life together. If we ever wondered Liz was there to guide us back to being in line. Listening, loving and laughter, were all thing that Liz taught us on our journey. We're all thinking of you and are thankful to have the many memories of our times with Liz. Take comfort knowing Liz is in Gods arms now. Love from Gail Surman. - Posted by: Gail Surman (Friend) on: Oct 12, 2024
