PATRICK DANIEL MUNROE

June 22, 1963 - September 3, 2024

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patrick Daniel Munroe at the age of 61. Patrick, a cherished father, brother, uncle, and friend, left us too soon but leaves behind the legacy of love and his many accomplishments. He will be deeply missed.

Patrick, son of Wayne Munroe and Carrie Moser, will be cherished and lovingly remembered by his son Daniel (Gabrielle), his brother Mike (Rosemarie), his niece and nephew Christopher and Kayla, his many friends, business partners, co-workers and extended family members.

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Patrick's journey from a passionate young professional to an entrepreneur is a testament to his dedication and drive. After graduating from high school, Patrick pursued a degree in Science, he took a gap year to follow his father, Wayne to Maui. Upon returning to Canada Patrick began his career in the restaurant business. His career with Grapes Restaurants saw him rise from the kitchen to operations, eventually owning Grapes franchises and ultimately becoming the franchisor. His heart and soul was poured into every aspect of his work. Patrick’s impact was also felt through his creation of PDM Market Solutions, a consulting business run in partnership with his son, Daniel.

Patrick’s contributions to the Manitoba Restaurant Association and various non-profit organizations, earned him many awards and accolades. His spirit of giving and leadership will be fondly remembered.

With the birth of his son Daniel, he became a proud father. Two peas in a pod. A milestone celebrated by announcing “It’s a Boy” on the once Grapes Pier 7 restaurant reader board. From that day forward, he was a very loving and delighted father who has given his son many opportunities to continue to grow with.

Patrick’s enthusiasm extended beyond his professional life to his personal passions, including the latest in technology, cars, boats, and gadgets. He was known to be an early adopter of innovation, perhaps even one of the first in Winnipeg to sport a cell phone, once called “a brick”. He was spontaneous and adventurous to say the least.

A long-standing member and once board member of the Niakwa Country Club, Patrick’s love for golf was shared with Daniel, who continues to enjoy the game, playing their last rounds together late into August.

Patrick’s love for travel and knowledge took him around the world, but Maui held a special place in his heart. The memories of his adventurous spirit and zest for life will forever be cherished by all who knew him. Boating was also a passion for Patrick and family, leaving behind many years of summer fun memories on the waters of Lake of the Woods. One to never fear challenges and appreciated the aspect of continued learning.

Patrick Daniel Munroe will be greatly missed, loved forever, and never forgotten. His legacy of love, adventure, and dedication will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

A celebration of Patrick’s life will be announced in the future.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to the staff at Health Sciences Centre for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba and/or Winnipeg Pet Rescue, honouring Patrick’s memory and the causes he supported.
