BETTE LYNN TOOLE

(née SMITH)

Bette Toole, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Banwell Care Centre in Windsor, Ontario, following a long illness. She was 79 years old.

Bette leaves behind her children, Simon Toole (Heather Mills) and Jennifer Toole, as well as her cherished granddaughters, Kaileigh Wu and Emily Wu. She is also survived by her loving sister Lois Heinbaugh, niece Holly (Jim) Fellows, and nephews, Philip (Tracey) Heinbaugh and John Willcott. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Williamson Smith and Dorothy Hazel Betsworth, her brother James Smith, and her brothers-in-law, Tom Heinbaugh and Gary Toole.

Born and raised in River Heights, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Bette graduated from Kelvin High School in 1963 and earned a Bachelor of Home Economics from the University of Manitoba in 1967. She was a proud member of the Pi Beta Phi fraternity. Bette’s life was defined by her warmth, kindness, and deep compassion for others. She faced life’s challenges with grace, always grounded by her unwavering faith. Bette’s memory will be honoured through her family and all those whose lives she touched.

In accordance with her wishes, she was cremated, and her ashes will be laid to rest at Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg in the spring of 2025. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Rest in peace, sweet mother. You will be forever missed, but never forgotten.

Arrangements entrusted to the Windsor Chapel (Banwell Chapel) (519)253-7235.
