HORST GERD BLUSCHKE

May 24, 1939 - October 30, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished father, Horst Gerd Bluschke, age 85 years.

Horst was a beloved husband, father, brother, Onkle and Opa.

He is survived by his children, Antje, Gary (Kristen) and Karen (Lance); grandchildren, Tilla, Kyle, Sheena, Ashley (Nikki), Leanne (Jeff), and Chase; step-grandchildren, Tyler and Chelsi and several great-grandchildren.

Horst immigrated with his parents to Canada in 1957, choosing Winnipeg to make their home. He lived a very full and rich life with his wife and family. He spent many years playing soccer including the 1970 Manitoba Selects, who became champions of Canada. On April 30, 2013, the 1970 Manitoba Selects were inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame.

Horst was predeceased by his beautiful wife Lieselotte and his parents, Paul and Emma Bluschke.

A private family service will take place with a memorial service to follow, honouring both Horst and Lieselotte.

In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.

Our family would like to thank everyone for their condolences during this difficult time.

The family requests that friends visit Horst Bluschke's tribute wall at www.bardal.ca where condolences, photos and stories may be placed for all to see.

  • Working with Horst was a joy. He was a true gentleman with a great work ethic. All who had interaction with him were blessed. A wonderful man that i was lucky enough to have crossed life paths with. - Posted by: John Fagan (Co-Worker) on: Nov 05, 2024

  • Dear Karen, Ashley and Leanne, I just wanted to say that I had the privilege of playing soccer against your dad when he played for Germania. I played for Italinter. He was one “tough” player to play against. Then in 1970 we were both selected to play for Manitoba in the National Championship, held in Winnipeg. I must say I was thankful that your dad was on our team. As a young player I looked up to players like your dad because he played “so hard”. Being inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame was truly an honour for your dad and the rest of the players. My thoughts and prayers are with you and all your family at this time. Sincerely, Walt McKee - Posted by: Walt McKee (Team mate (1970 National Champions)) on: Nov 03, 2024

  • Dear Karen, Ashley and Leanne, We remember your parents fondly in the time we saw them during Christmas dinners and other family gatherings. We are sending our love to all of you. Hugs Don & Terrol. - Posted by: Terrol Rogers (Friend ) on: Nov 02, 2024
