October 9, 1945 - November 2, 2024


In loving memory of Ernest (Ernie) Jules Joseph Côté who was born in St. Malo, Manitoba on October 9, 1945, and passed away from complications after surgery on November 2, 2024, with his family by his side, at the Saint Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Forever to cherish Ernie’s memory, are his beloved wife Lucienne of 58 years, sons: Marcel (Shelley), Guy (Heather), Robert (Lori); and daughter Jacquie (Hervé Cecchi); grandchildren: Ashley, Alyssa, Chloe, Jordan, Jocelynn, Matthew, Chantelle, Janelle, Shaylene and Matteo, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Ernie was predeceased by his parents, Adelard and Eleonore; brother Robert; sisters, Evelyne and Louise; as well as his in-laws, David and Zepherine L’Heureux , and numerous in-laws
A devoted family man, Ernie dedicated over 50 years to road construction in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario where his hard work and innovative spirit left an unforgettable mark with those he worked with and mentored. A jack of all trades, he was known for his compassion, giving nature and infectious sense of humour.
He found joy in playing pool, golf, and cards with family and friends. He loved nature and anything outdoors. He loved to watch the wildlife at every opportunity and taught his boys how to hunt, fish and respect the land.
His love for travel and family created many treasured memories. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, he was truly a wonderful man.
A celebration of Ernie’s life will take place on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at St Timothy’s Roman Catholic Parish, 135 John Forsyth Rd. in Winnipeg Manitoba.
