Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILFRED W. (WILF) JESTADT
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father Wilfred Jestadt, on Monday, November 4, 2024. Born and raised in Winnipeg, he resided there his entire life.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle; sons, Derrick (Lise), Brian, and Grant; and sister, JoAnn McDougal (Bill); brother, Dr. John Jestadt (Kay) predeceased him.
One of his greatest joys was seeing his grandchildren, Jamie Lee (and her son, Asher), Mitchell, Miranda, Quinn, Roman and Miles grow into healthy young adults and embark on their lives.
Wilfred attended Kelvin High School, St. Paul's College and the University of Manitoba. He was a long-time member of the Winnipeg Canoe Club and the Refit Centre.
Wilf was a true "Banker", enjoying a successful 38 year career with Air Canada, where he retired as Assistant Treasurer, Cash Management and Banking. He also served on the Finance Committee for the International Air Transport Association (IATA), representing numerous airlines worldwide. His work took him to every continent.
Though Winnipeg was always home, he loved spending winters in Florida and cherished 60 summers at his cottage in the Whiteshell.
When asked, "How do you feel about passing on?" he would say, "I really don’t know... I’ve never done it before, but ask me later". With a wonderful wife, Gayle, three sons, and with God’s guidance, he often said he was given a great life to enjoy.
Sincere thanks go out to Gayle’s compassionate caregivers at the Rosewood Retirement Home.
In accordance with Wilf’s wishes, cremation will take place. A Funeral Liturgy celebrating his life will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Road, Winnipeg. A private interment at Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery will occur at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wilf’s memory to a charity of your choice.

I offer my condolences to the whole Jestadt family. I have lots of good memories with Brian, both at the house as well as the cottage at Falcon Lake. Your Dad was always nice to me and could be quite funny. I won’t forget those times ever. Russell Jonson - Posted by: Russell Jonson (Friend) on: Nov 09, 2024
