Date of Passing: Nov 07, 2024
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNA MARIE GARAND
Peacefully on Thursday, November 7, 2024, with family members by her side, Anna joined Germain at the age of 94 years.
She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Germain Sr.
Anna is survived by her eight children, Elaine (Phil), Eveline-Cooky, Ernie (Denise), Germain Jr. (Shelley), Suzanne (Neil), Claudette (John), Antoine, Jean-Paul (Francois), and 11 grandchildren, Christopher, Stephanie, Robert, Roger, Alex, Arielle, Samantha, Daniel, Deanna, Conan, Miguel and nine great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her siblings, Yvette Isabey and Gilbert Nault
Anna was born in Eastend, Saskatchewan on November 28, 1929. When she was young, her family moved to St. Pierre where she grew up on the farm. She would tell us how she and her favourite horse Jim would go and jump fences bareback out in the pastures. She loved to dance and would attend the local town dances. That is where she met dad and the rest as they say is history. Mom was an excellent cook and the door to mom and dad's was always open and always room to place another plate at the table.
Mom worked most of her life at St. Amant Centre as a House Mother at the nurse’s residence or as a Health Care Aide.
Mom loved Life even though she experienced many hardships along the way, she found beauty in everything, always positive, teaching us when the going got tough, the tough got going like the mama bear she was proud to be.
Funeral Mass at St. Emile Church, 556 St. Anne’s Rd., Saturday, November 16 at 11:00 a.m., with reception to follow.
We would like to thank the caring staff of Foyer Valade for all the care and support given to mom in the seven years she was a resident.
Donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.

As a kid, hanging out with her daughter Suzanne, she was always in the kitchen, where we had great conversations and something to eat. One time I asked what the green stuff in the jar was and she said green ketchup! I thought it was something that had gone moldy. She laughed and gave me some on a burger it was delicious! Thank you Mrs. G for your conversations. You always gave me sound advice. Love to the family, I am so sorry for your loss. The world was a better place with her in it. - Posted by: Sharon Lee Kennedy Granger (Friend) on: Nov 15, 2024

I'm so sorry for your loss. My first memory of you're mom is going to the canteen at the girls residence at St. Amant where she worked. She always made it fun. And knowing her all the years since as a friend of her kids. My thoughts are with you. - Posted by: Jill (Friend ) on: Nov 15, 2024

Memere Garand was the best Mother-in-Law that a man could ever ask for. Many comedians like to tell Mother-in-Law jokes, and I like to tell jokes, but Memere was such a good person that I never once told a joke about her. Besides, my brothers-in-law would kill me if I ever said a bad word about their Mom! My favorite memory of Memere was the first time I had dinner at their house, a small gathering of maybe 25 or so big people stuffed into their kitchen. The brothers were taking turns verbally harassing me and Memere told them to leave me alone...and they did! Also I learned a lot about cooking from Memere and I now think to myself how would Memere cook this meal? Usually the answer is "simple", salt pepper onions. Growing up, her house was always filled with family, love, fond memories, and amazing food. I am so grateful to have had her in my life for all these years, all the time we’ve spent together with our big family, and that she got to witness Lili and Gabey grow up to be vibrant little kids. It’s now time to rest, mémé. Give pépé a big hug and kiss from us all. You are so loved and your legacy will live on forever through the way we connect as a family, your laughter, your joy for all the babies, your guidance, your food, and the way you always made anyone who entered your home feel welcome. On my drive home today from a conference in Regina, I pulled over for a quick stop in a little town in Saskatchewan near the MB boarder. I wasn’t sure where I was at the time but had felt compelled to stop and call my dad. When he asked where I was, I looked at the sign and realized I was in Moosamin, SK. When I told him, he laughed and said that that was where mémé had been born, on a small SK farm. I couldn’t believe it. There I was, standing in the place where it all began. It must have been her guiding me to that spot on my journey home to be with my family. I was meant to be there, to honour and remember her there. My angel forever. Je t’aime pour toujours mémé ❤️❤️❤️ - Posted by: Stéphanie Garand (Granddaughter ) on: Nov 13, 2024
