MARY RYBAK

Born: February 8, 1932

Date of Passing: November 9, 2024

Mary passed away suddenly, at her home, on Saturday, November 9, 2024. She was 92 years of age.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Katherine Rybak; her sister, Anne (Y.O.) Mascuich; her brothers, Maron Rybak; Stanley (Anne) Rybak; Edward (Jean) Rybak; her niece, Mary (Dick) Pease; her nephew, Joseph Rybak; her brothers-in-law, Y.O. Mascuich; Peter Moss Sr.; and her great-nephew, Darren Barnabe. She is survived by her sister, Carole (Peter) Moss; her nieces and nephews, Patricia, Peter, Patrick, Theresa, Katherine, Margaret, Michael, and their extended families.

Mary was born in Winnipeg on February 8, 1932, and raised at the family home at 695 Church Avenue. She was baptized at St. John Cantius Church and would be a faithful member of this parish for all her life, being a member of the CWL.

Mary attended Faraday School and graduated from Isaac Newton High School in 1951. Mary was employed by the T. Eaton Company as a Clerk in the Accounting Department on the 8th floor of the downtown Winnipeg department store. She applied for and qualified for employment with the Canadian Government in the Department of External Affairs and for 30 years enjoyed a successful career that took her to postings in Bonn, Germany, Cairo, Egypt and the United Nations in New York City. Upon retirement, she returned to her home in Winnipeg. Mary loved to shop and her appearance was always impeccable. Through challenging times, she relied on her steadfast faith in the teachings of the Catholic Church to see her through.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Cantius Church, 846 Burrows Avenue, with Fr. Yolando Gamallo celebrant, interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery, 4387 Main Street.

Her family extends a special thank-you to Dr. John Mayba at the Manitoba Clinic for his patience, concern and the special attention he gave to Mary.

In lieu of flowers, we encourage all of family and friends to consider a donation to St. John Cantius Roman Catholic Church, or a charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Mary and I have been friends since early childhood, and have many happy memories together through our work at the T.Eaton Company and through Sr. John Cantius Church. We enjoyed our retirement years together and shared common interests through our faith and through the Senior's groups belonged to. Sincere condolences to Mary's family. Mary, until we meet again, rest in peace. - Posted by: Lorraine Jurkowski (Lifelong Friend) on: Nov 18, 2024

  • I remember her as a child when I met her for the first time, again as an adult. She was always happy and smiling, loved to shop and talk about fashion. She was very stylish! Wish I could have spent more time with her! She will be missed! - Posted by: Marilla Seward (Extended Family ) on: Nov 17, 2024
