It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Angelena Alonius (née Harms). She passed peacefully surrounded by her family on October 29, 2024 after her courageous battle with Bulbar-Onset ALS came to an end.
Angie was born on December 25, 1957 to Jake and Marion in Winkler, Manitoba. She moved to Glendora, California with her family at a young age and grew up there. She attended Glendora High School and later Citrus College, before returning to Winnipeg and attending the University of Manitoba.
Angie worked as a Mental Health Support Worker for the WRHA in Winnipeg. She spent her days tirelessly serving those in the community and her nights and weekends cherishing time with her children, grandchildren, and her dog which all meant the world to her.
Angie is survived by her children, Marissa (Mike), Derek, and Kyle (Gosha), and her beloved grandchildren, Madison, Junior, and Amicia.
Also mourning her loss is her mother, Marion, her brothers, Reno, Clinton, and her nephew Trent, as well as many family and friends. She was predeceased by her father, Jake.
We'd like to say a heartfelt thank you to the ALS Society of Manitoba, the staff at Deer Lodge, and the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for your care, compassion, and dedication with Angie through her journey with ALS.
Angie’s motto was to live life in pursuit of the sublime, and in her life, she not only sought it, but truly embodied it.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ALS Society of Manitoba.
Cremation has taken place, and an open Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home.

I have known Angie for about 35 years we were best friends. The first time we met we connected immediately, you don’t meet many people who come into your life like we did. Angie was full of life she loved nature like no one else, Her passion was wildlife photography she never went anywhere without her camera just incase she saw that fox running across the road, or the black bear playing in the wild flowers. She was her happiest amongst nature. Her family was very important to her. She supported them no matter what she needed to do to make sure they were taken care of. She was always there for her grandchildren, going to hockey games dance recitals. I am missing my best friend every day but I also feel that she free from all the pain she was in. We would talk about everything and anything. Even the song we wanted playing when we passed. It was “Going on up to the spirit of the sky” I love you my friend my sister❤️. Until we meet again. - Posted by: Mary Sinclair (friend ) on: Nov 16, 2024
