Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKENNETH MAH
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Mah, on October 28, 2024, at the age of 57, at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto.
He will be deeply missed by his brother, Peter (and brother-in-law Bernard Royer), as well as his close friends, including his beloved godchildren, Juliette and Genevieve Lee (parents, Lauren Dade and Jacques Lee). He was predeceased by his father Wing Yan Mah and his sister Eva (both in Winnipeg).
Ken was born and raised in Winnipeg (St. James-Assiniboia). After completing a B.A. (Honours) in Psychology at the University of Winnipeg, he went on to pursue his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at McGill University, Montreal. He subsequently completed post-doctoral training at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Toronto, where he continued to work since (besides a brief period as an associate at the Toronto General Hospital), as a clinical psychologist and ultimately as a prominent research methodologist and analyst with the Department of Supportive Care. His expertise, collaboration, and devotion in research methodology and mentorship were well appreciated by colleagues, students, and personnel of the Department. Ken eventually also complemented his love of books and reading through studies in Publishing at Toronto Metropolitan University, after which he immensely enjoyed internships at Knopf Canada and HarperCollins Canada.
Faced with health struggles since very early in childhood, Ken dealt with each challenge throughout his life with strength and courage. A fiercely protective older brother and a loyal, generous friend, Ken was surrounded with the love of his chosen family of close friends who helped to nurture and enrich his life experiences through his love for excursions to picturesque villages and Christmas markets, near and far; karaoke and musicals; paintings and antiques; baking, good food, and English afternoon tea - right up to his final days.
Memorial celebrations in Ken's honour will be held as private events.
Donations in Ken's memory are suggested to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, towards the Department of Supportive Care, where Ken devoted his life's work:

Went to school with Ken in Winnipeg, and enjoyed his friendship and adventurous nature. His sense of humor and infectious laugh were wonderful characteristics that I will remember forever! I'm so sorry for your very profound loss, Peter. He's still with you in spirit, and in the memories you hold dear. God bless ~ Nadine (nee Joss) 🌹 - Posted by: Nadine Miller (Friend) on: Nov 23, 2024
