It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lorne Michael "Mike" Anthony Arseniuk, a long-time resident of Dawson, Creek, British Columbia. Michael passed away peacefully on December 1, 2024, at the age of 70 years.
Michael was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Tony (Anthony) and Margaret Arseniuk, the fourth child of eight children. His formative years were spent in Winnipeg and Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba on his grandparents Baba and Gigi's farm where he managed to always be getting into some type of trouble, such as burning down a haystack and riding cows. He still somehow managed to capture Baba's heart. Michael spoke reverently of his boyhood in Lac du Bonnet. He later left Manitoba and moved to Prince Rupert, BC. It is there that he met his loving wife Susan. From Prince Rupert they moved to Nanaimo, BC and then to Dawson Creek, BC where he fell in love with what he called God's country.
Michael was passionate about fishing, hunting wild big game and geese. He loved the outdoors and could not get enough of it. He also was an avid gardener and loved his greenhouse. Michael was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it.
Michael was very family oriented and very proud of his children and grandchildren. Nothing in life made him happier than spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Michael was predeceased by his father Tony (Anthony) Arseniuk, baby brother Thomas Mark Arseniuk and brother-in-law Jake (Linda) Friesen.
He is survived by his wife Margaret Jean Susan Arseniuk, his son Jason Michael Anthony Arseniuk (Amanda, Jayden, Arlanda, Jaxon, Arrayah), his son Jeremy Arseniuk (Mason), stepson Garrit Kelm (Addison), stepdaughter Heather Kelm (Carys, Landon) and his loving mother Margaret Jean Arseniuk, brothers, Lawrence (Lynne), Leslie (Rachel), Tim (Angie) and Mark, sisters, Linda and Karen (Larry) as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Words from his mother: "Michael you may have lived the furthest away but you were always the closest to my heart. Always gentle, kind and loving."
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
