Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNE CHISHOLM
Peacefully passed away, with her husband Don by her side on December 6, 2024, at Golden Door Geriatric Centre. Beloved wife of Donald Chisholm and devoted mother to Donald, Murray (Mandy), and Sheila. Cherished grandmother to Dara (Shaun), Devan, Danika (Bryce), Ryan (Kaeleigh), Jenaya, Daniel, and Kailey, and proud great-grandmother to Zander and Rowyn.
Anne was born on May 5, 1932, in Erickson, MB, where she spent her childhood and school years, aside from a few years in Hamilton, ON. Her beloved Mom Stella and Dad Bill farmed just a few miles from town; it was a peaceful escape from the city for our family.
As a young girl, Anne always wanted to be a teacher. She accomplished this shortly after graduation, becoming a permit teacher, and would later study at Normal School in Winnipeg from 1951-52. It was there she first met Don, who had come over from Scotland and was stationed at Stevenson Field training with the Royal Air Force. After graduation she taught in Erickson, several one-room schools around Erickson, later moving to Dauphin to teach grade 6, the highlight of her teaching career.
After Don returned to Scotland, he and Anne kept in touch via letter for the next seven years, before finally reuniting in Winnipeg in 1959 and marrying on August 20, 1960. Anne taught in Winnipeg for another year before the birth of her first child Donald. She then retired to focus on being a full-time mother to Donald, Murray and Sheila.
After moving to Thompson and Regina for Don’s work at the TD Bank, Anne and Don eventually returned to Winnipeg, settling in Fort Richmond, where they made their home alongside many wonderful neighbours. Anne loved to entertain and could befriend anyone in just a short time. Anne was a talented gardener, transforming barren spaces into vibrant blooms and abundant harvests. She also explored oil painting, pottery, and sewing, and was an avid photographer, always capturing cherished memories to bring home from every event.
Anne became involved with the local chapter of the Canadian Cancer Society, serving as a group captain. She truly treasured both the success of their campaigns and the many friends she made.
Some of Anne’s dearest friends, affectionately called "the gang", created countless cherished memories together - sharing dinners, birthdays, anniversaries, New Year’s, travel, and many other events - always marked by warm camaraderie and often a joyful sing-along.
Later in life, Anne enjoyed travelling the world with Don, taking cruises to Alaska, Europe, South America, Asia, Australia, Hawaii and more, making many lifelong friends along the way. But the true joy of her life was her seven grandchildren and later two great-grandchildren who she loved to spoil and whose visits and calls always put a big smile on her face.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Golden Door Geriatric Centre for their compassionate care.
According to Anne's wishes, there will be a private family celebration of Anne’s life and she will be laid to rest at Glen Lawn Cemetery.

Sending Don and family my deepest Condolences on the passing of Anne. I always enjoyed our conversations when we would meet at Bank functions.
