Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAN GERRIT NOORDMAN
The families of Jan Gerrit Noordman are heartbroken to announce his sudden passing on December 6, 2024, at the age of 63.
Jan leaves to mourn his son, Nathan (Rayne Mackenzie), of whom he was incredibly proud. He also leaves to mourn his siblings, Diane, Dick, Harry, Trudy, David, Leesa, as well as loads upon loads of adoring sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Jan was predeceased by the love of his life Sharon Noordman (Reykdal), his parents, Hank and Corrie Noordman, his father-in-law Chris Reykdal, sister Cora Krall and sister in-law Maureen Noordman (Morris).
Jan grew up in West Kildonan, where his friends knew him as John. He was a gentle soul who always had a kind word and a friendly smile for everyone he met.
He was, first and foremost, a Blue Jays fan!!! He cheered for the Jets, loved cribbage - a game he would never turn down - and played chess. Jan was also an artist; he was a talented painter and a brilliant photographer who, as a young man, set up an elaborate darkroom in his dad’s basement where he spent many hours developing film.
Jan lent his creative skills to his career at the Winnipeg Free Press for most of his life. He enjoyed his work; it was a place where he found lifelong friends in colleagues who enjoyed his laughter and undying loyalty to his community and its newspaper.
After retirement, Jan and Sharon embraced a relaxed lifestyle in the beautiful beach town of Winnipeg Beach, where he was loved and cared for by his local community. He passed time indulging in the world of comic book collection, growing an impressive archive of stories from the Spider-Man universe and others from the early 1970s.
We love you, Janneman!
And always will.
A private service will be held at a later date.
